We do need some sort of feed back re the youth sides and a few names to watch for. Seems I am one of the few who watch u18s/reserves regularly and post here(would watch others but for time). I have known Matt Bowles since he played as an under 10, a really nice lad who has slowly made his way upwards. Joining Margate at the beginning of last season (one of the Ramsgate Rejects) as a first year u18. Things fell into place as Big Nev took him under his wing and suddenly he went from an average u18s keeper to someone with great first team promise and an asset to Margate. Hope Margate FC does the right thing by him.

Meanwhile, there are others who could do with some guidance from ex-pros. Not just to benefit from their knowledge but to instil the belief. With Matt and Paul Axon taking the step I hope the door will now stay open. I know it`s nowhere near the same but for me the reserves play better football than the first team, the difference is size and being street wise as only pros/semi pros can be.

Whilst there is the time thing, I do not understand why those from the first team, thats everyone, can not spend some time with the youth teams. Yep, I do feel strongly about this and could go on and on and no......................zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Good Luck to ALL in 2008

its a shame, we dont have a bad youth set up.we paid big nev to coach all our goal keepers ,they were all informed but hardly any turned up.and i wish we had a decent youth pitch we could use for games, instead of dane park, dog [****!!****],broken bottles, long grass etc.its imbarrasing when you get a home game and they see what we play on compared with theres, even the rams have a better facility than us.

My understanding is that there will be a training pitch behind the 5s, can someone confirm this. I`ve watched a couple of games at Dane Park and the above comments are spot on, very embarrassing for those playing there. Having been through the youth age groups as a spectator (MUSH from u13) I have seen some dia enclosed pitches but I think I`m right in saying Margate are the only club at MUSH level who use a public park. Last year through the winter months the u18 just trained inside at the Marlow College. Ramsgate use a school ground albeit without any hospitality for matches and, when Jamie was there, trained on the pitch or that bit of ground on the side. Lets hope it`s sorted out soon.

pfizer is a good ground shame you cant use the bar though, minster again a good ground no bar,and your right in thinking we are the only mush level to use a park .im involved with the under 15s i think the only place we havnt trained is a central reservation and a roundabout lol

In conversation with RT in the club house after a match a couple of matches ago. We asked if the first team would be training down in Margate in the near future. Perhaps "Joseba" will correct me if this got it wrong. Trotty said he would have no objection to the 1st team training down at Hartsdown "when" the new training pitches are in place.
