Potters Bar 2 - 3 Town

 

Ware won 3-1 : Dartford put 6 past Canvey to their 1 and Brentwood won 2-1 at the Abbey: Maldon also won 2-1.

A battling performance which we did our best to continue with the Christmas spirit of giving presents away, especially the two goals.

 

1-0 down to a penalty after dominating the early play. Got back in it and then gave another one away. 2-2 at half time afte Tickner and Hammatt had scored.

 

Second half - poor game really. What was said at half time?

 

Ozzie Foster substituted. Why him? Andy Jones on. Arrived at 12.55pm for a 1.00pm KO! Park football or what? He then decided to hit a smashing shot from outside the box into the 'keeper's bottom right hand corner to win the game.

 

Steve Velandia sprayed the ball around and played really well. Surely he deserves his place and an extended run, even when Rudi Hall has served his suspension!

 

3 points and here's looking forward to Northwood on Saturday.

Kofi and Bastian had very good games on the left especially against the nippy No7. Campbell was again off form.Velendia battled well in the middle.Hammett is playing well at present.Ozzie had another solid game up top.Jonesy showed his class when he came on (and how long has he been practising that back flip.Very impressive,although i've a feeling his perfect landing would have registered a reading on the richter scale.

Having lost more games to Potters Bar Town than Enfield Town have won they have become a cross between a nemesis and a banana-skin for Jim Chandler. Potters Bar had Precious Koko from former Enfield FC derby games and Cary Wright (former ETFC on bench).

Town started positively with Paul Campbell heading into the side netting. At the other Simon Tickner was beaten by the striker forcing the next line of defence to bring the lad down in the box. Up walks Precious Koko 1 - 0.

Up the other end Ossie Foster brings down a Potters Bar player with a mistimed tackle – phew – yellow card. Ossie Foster got to the by line and crossed to Ricci Crace to force the save. Steve Velandia went wide with a free kick shot on goal. Steve Velandia right in front of goal heads wide from a David Bastian cross. Ouch it was harder to miss that one! The Town goal came from a David Bastian throw in, headed on by Steve Magona and kicked out by a PBT player to Bryan Hammatt who drilled it through a mass of players 1 – 1. Bryan shot wide. Andre Foster in one on one went out to meet Wayne Jackson who then went round him and slotted home 2 – 1. The response at the other end was not long coming with a head home by Simon Tickner to make amends for the early mistake. 2 – 2. Paul Campbell had his eyes water after a studs up slide into his groin. I think the offender was booked for the dangerous play,

The whole of the first half saw Billy Crowther wearing a heavy head bandage. The second half saw him without a head bandage but Simon Tickner wearing one. We assume Simons need was greater? Ricci Crace shot saved. Paul Campbell shot saved. Ozzie Foster off Andy Jones on. Paul Campbell off Jamie Nay on. Glenn Harvey headed over the bar. Dave Bastian booked for decent. Andy Jones drilled a shot from 25 yards screaming into the net. Town fans erupt with “Jones'y is a porn star” and he responds with a forward summersault. PBT went close once or twice after that but job was pretty much done.

Why was the referee coaching the Potters Bar Town players “Let’s not give away a needless penalty” when awaiting a town corner. Secondly our players had to get back the full 10 yards, but Potters Bar didn’t have to. That is inconsistent Mr Lewis!

I think he was booked for persistent infringement anyway - the ref seemed to warn him right after his previous foul.

 

Thought that it was a decent performance given the heavy conditions and the fact that we usually struggle at PBT – let’s make sure that we keep our winning run going on Saturday.

he endurered a 5 hr drive from north wales, just to get to the game.

 

but the the goal was worth it, jonesy, and that back flip. lol
