well that was a little gem of a game and most entertaining on this lovely sunny boxing day afternoon with some good attacking play from both sides albeit a little chrismas puddingy at times....

 

I suspect that leyton are past their reorganisation worst and indeed they played some lively attacking footie today and certainly deserved both of their well worked goals..having said that we always looked as if we would score when we attacked them and in truth their goalie had a bit of a red letter day or else it could have been a good few more...I'll let daggsy do the blow by blow but 2 each from kris and parks and one from frankie made it a relatively comfortable 3 points....

 

nice old ground getting spruced up by costas and welcoming friendly people also....thanx to them and well done the travelling red and white army and colin and the boys....a most enjoyable boxing days entertainment...

Leyton sound almost exactly like when we played them the other week - keeper was easily man of the match, and we could almost score at will, but still looked pretty handy going forwards - certainly deserved their goal, and arguably a second.

 

They opened the new stand behind the goal yet? Looked decent, but we weren't allowed in.

Plently of catering avaialable - after all, it is the Feast of Steven - you just had to know where to look for it - read the match report.

 

HELP wanted - who scored Leyton's second goal? I inadvertantly, in error, by mistake, wrote the name of the scorer as being the one who had the first shot - I know it is not right - Kel - can you help?

there will be a few of those nippy kids disappearing shortly unless costas does something...especially the right back...

stand still unused and with no seats which I guess tells a tale of costas frame or mind...he appeared committed enough with his young team today from the sidelines but that sort of money invested and fan apathy plus the crap he undeservedly gets (IMO) would pi55 anyone off...

its looking like a very very tight run in....

I was talking to the father and uncle of the Bricknell cousins and he said they scored both Leyton goals, but i did not bother to ask in which order.

Thanks, Bob - I knew I had the scorer wrong when I went to do the match report - I put the same number down twice, and then could not remember who really scored.

 

I never knew they were cousins, either - I was assuming they were brothers.

 

Despite the scoreline, Leyton had some good players out there.

I was also talking to one of their committee men and he said that the team are young and in need of more experience at this level.

 

He said they will proberly go down but as i told him, if you keep these players together Leyton will do well next season as even now they have a better side than the likes of Tilbury and Ilford.
