Dean Standen

Why why why why why?

It was an horrendous challenge by Schulz (according to everyone - I looked away just as it happened) and it was always going to be a red card. We were then going to be a man up and they were going to be without their most influencial player for the last twenty minutes. That could have been the key to us taking all three points but Dean had to go in fists flying and our adavantage is instantly wiped out. Why does he do that?

I couldn't believe it when I saw Dean push the the referee in the chest. It was a sure Red card after having done that. Of course he was proberbly only trying to get at an opponent whilst doing that but why, why, why, does he feel the need to everytime? Lessons haven't being learned with that fella I'm sorry to say.

I thought that was 3 straight reds this season for Standen but someone else said that it was 4. That means he has missed 12 games this season through suspension. Again today he was 30 yards away from the incident and barged straight in. I did not see clearly but people were saying that he hit the ref. If thats right it may be more than 3 gmes this time this time. I cant see things imoproving as Trott amazingly defended him again, saying he only deserved a yellow. The disciplin once again will be our downfall this season and from the interview with Trott we will be struggling for a team next week. How much is Standen costing us in wages stood on the sidelines? I have defended him in the past and was relieved to see him back today but how much longer can he last? It may well have cost another 3 points today.

I can't believe the comments about the referee today, I thought he was one of the best I've seen at HdP all season. I also heard Jim Ward's comments about the referee and surely he should be sanctioned. Ward just seems to sulk whenever he doesn't get his way. The Margate bench at least showed how to behave when there is controversy on the pitch. The Wards were tearing up and down the touch-line, coming onto the pitch - at one point beyond the Margate dug-outs.

I too didn't think the ref was THAT bad today either Wellsie. Am a bit bemused by that one I must admit. A bit whistle happy in that second half perhaps & an unwarranted yellow to Trotty earlier in the game but certainly not a poor referee on todays showing. He did okay & gave more decisions correctly than he did incorrectly I thought. He certainly had NO choice with the two Reds.
As for the second part of your comments thats what the Wards do "consistently" especially at the near-side lino to them.Intimidation is their game. They wont change!

Agree totally on ref - it would have been easy to bottle out on the penalty and the two sendings off, but his decisions were spot on. DS is a disgrace, I'm afraid, and no excuses should be offered for him...least of all by the manager! Two seasons ago he was our poorest 'regular', now he plays well and he's a liability - that's down to the management to sort out. Wards were just acting like....well, Wards do. All in all, my view was a predictable result to a game which was marginally better than I thought it was going to be, with a crowd that was 200-300 better than I thought too. Another point, still fifth (Ryman site not yet updated!) and still in with a shout of the playoffs with a full squad and a bit more discipline from now on. This league is still wide open apart from Chelmsford (I still think Hendon will slip).

In fairness to the ref I thought Robin did deserve his yellow. He did have two digs before bringing the guy down!

Deano is fast becoming your new Sam Sodje. 4 reds a couple of years ago , wasn't it? Rather grudgingly I have to admit he has made himself a reasonable football career, but with his style of play will always be in trouble (yet another red today, I see). Standen's temper will ALWAYS be his undoing. Regardless of his talent, you are better off consigning him to the Kent league, as he will cost you more points (and money) than he will earn.

Good attendance todays for you, well done. Happy new year from Ebbsfleet.

I thought refereee was good today and got most decisions

correct.

(our penalty looked a bit lucky ?)

No excuses for dean-and have not heard interview yet but if RT has defended him-that is disgraceful.

I though Dean ran at least 40 yards so it was totally pre-meditated-he had the 6 seconds it takes to run those 40 yards to change his mind.

AS sent off before-it will be at least a 5 match ban-and could be even 7 for striking the referee. Thanks alot Dean.

Margatefan sees it with blinkered eyes again. The tackle was a defo sending off and so was Standen for pushing an official. Ward was to far down the line but if you look at the video Mckimm was in the middle of it all, Morris swung at someone and should have gone but Ward and Mckimm were trying to pull players away from trouble which is a natural reaction. I have always sung the praises for Dean even when at the start of last season he was being slated I said Quote after seeing him train was impressed with his level of skill and training aplitude. But today he can't be defended for a stupid unnessasary sending off.
