Boxing day attendance predictions

1760 at Southwood last season, and with Margate traditionally pulling higher crowds, plus Ramsgate flying high in theory the game should pull in about 1900.

However, i just can't see that happening.

A few things have happened- it seems over the last 12 months to knock the stuffing(keeping it seasonal) out of alot of so many latent Margate supporters .The consistent inconsistency manifests itself through the turnstyles

I reckon that the attendance will be 1104

I thought you would all be castigasting me for predicting a low turnout !!

I'm highest so far !!

Good job, fine weather is forecast

What's changed between last year at southfork and this year at HDP?

As i posted above, somehow the excitement and enthusiasm has been knocked out of Margate FC followers over the last 12 months, but here we are -still 5th in the league.

Speak for yourself, you miserable old b*gger. I am still excited and enthusiastic, the same before every game as ever I was.

You are right.

Just because i can't take any 'joie de vivre' from what have seemed to me some very exasperating and deflating management decisions/lack of decisions; i am completly wrong to make a judgement on how others may feel.

Anyway, here is expecting improved performances in 2008,and finishing 2008 with a couple of wins would do no harm for his cause either.

Fantastic effort if over 1500 souls feel the same as your good self and turn out to see Margate win on thursday.I'll be among them.

Hmm I am not speaking for people who support or have supported either of the Thanet teams over the years, because clearly they have put money towards the clubs before, and many would go if they could.

What really fills me with fury (season of good will I know) is these absolute idiots (and this probably applies across the board in non-league) who refuse until they are blue in the face to go to a local game, preferring to spend their money watching Arsenal v Chelsea every Saturday. As you've probably realised by now, these people REALLY annoy me, and as usual they won't care one iota about Wednesday.

Anyway, other reasons why people might not be able to make it include lack of transport, perhaps having to spend time with the family etc.

All in all I suspect we won't get anywhere near 1000 on Boxing Day.

And P.S. I sincerely hope someone can come on here when the attendance is announced as 2000 and quote me because it is what the footballers of Thanet deserve I think.

I say around 1,133, As it's boxing day some people perfer to work for double money or go shopping in the sales then support their local team's heroes battle on the pitch and it's a real shame that the people of Thanet who I'm sure love football but just cant be assed to support the clubs, and also all those that rather travel and spend more money to watch Charlton, Chelsea, Arsenal, Gillingham, QPR, Fulham, Tottenham and West Ham, I see them all Saturday mornings going upto the train station to get on their coaches/trains.

I trust everyone has enjoyed a fabulous Christmas day

We all seem to agree that attendance will be around 1100.

What is not answered is why 600 less people are thus likely to attend than last season, when arguably tomorrow, the home side has a greater base support in the first instance.

Shops were open last year, family needs not changed much(early kick off arguably helps )both sides in theory at least doing ok ,so why in just 12 months are so many fewer likely to attend this season.

What/who is killing it ?

Lets just hope we are wrong and 1800 attend.

Taking my grandson, so there will be at least 1 more than usual in the crowd. Downside he will want to go into the seated stand, so £6 more I've got to spend out than usual. I reckon about 1,355 and a marginal win for . . . sorry got to go, 'phone ringing!

What I have read lately on the forum and talking to supporters I would be surprised if they reach the thousand although saying that the weather forcast is good, Wish I could afford to go. When both and Margate and Ramsgate were in the same league previously gates were 2,000 and more I am sure older members will remeber thats right is'nt Rocking Richard.

Not quite as I saw it Ian but I will say I thought Ramsgate were slightly the better side in that second half but all but for a 10 minute spell when the old Margate defensive flaws crept into the game I thought we dealt well with your one man up front but we got it back on track back there after that & generally the defence worked well together. The big punts forward only caused us problems occasionally. We were guilty of that kind of play too at times might I add. A few scares from your lads but not enough to warrant you being unlucky to have secured the full 3 points.

I thought we shaded the first half despite giving a sloppy goal away in first half stoppage time.A good headed goal though by Schulz from a Ramsgate perspective, but from our point of view & as I saw it our keeper should have got hold of that ball.Sloppy keeping by Scott in goal for that one I.M.O.

It has to be said though that with such a patched up side out there today the Gate on the whole gave as good as they got & generally did well & worked hard for a result.

Not a classic by a long way but I think a fair result in the end.

A very good turn out indeed, more than I had anticipated & I think the day went well with supporters of both clubs up at the Margate end, chatting together in a friendly manner.(a fair few reds couldn't go two hours without a beer it seemed l.o.l.).

Sendings off: Schulz deserved his card for a rash tackle but Standen,as always gets involved when there was no need. He had to go after having pushed the referee.I don't think he will ever learn & now together with 5 or 6 "BIG" players that we already have out he joins that list. What a silly silly boy.

Goals: Ramsgate's I have already mentioned above.

The Gate Penalty I thought was harsh as I thought the players just got tangled up but others I spoke to who were closer than me & were adamant a push was made.Obviously the ref saw it that way too.A well taken penalty by Pinns.

Nice for you to come up & say hello today. Happy new year mate.
