He would turn over in his grave if they did name it after Alma Hall, as is name was Almer Hall.

Funny, though, when you start looking into things.

 

We all know that it was Almer Hall and I thought that his full name was Almeric - I understood it to be Almeric G. Hall. However, I have just had a look at some old programmes and in 1954 he was simply listed as "A.G.Hall", but then, in a couple of 1959/60 programmes for some reason he became "Albert Hall". Still, a book about West Ham of the 1950's "Days of Iron" clearly identifies him as Almer Hall.

 

As I write, we all knew him as Almer but isn't it strange how the club, Almer, or someone editing the programme, decided he should be "Albert".

O.K.I stand corrected ironically I only lived a few doors away from him when he lived in a club house in Ulster road, Ray John lived there when ALMER moved to Monkton. Who agrees that the board should consider naming a stand after him.

Bob Harrop stand might be the preferred name, thats if Hartsdowner is ever replaced.

When the new stadium is built, I would say both, the stadium, stands and possible the club house will be named after which ever sponsor puts up the required amount of cash.
