Billericay Town 1 Braintree Town 2

Recommended Posts

Certainly wasn't our worst performance of the season. Problems came at the back where we were without Penn, Henty, Gilley and Kerrigan through injury meaning we ended up playing Eastwood, Savidge and some bloke from Hornchurch (Nic McDonald). Up front Douglas has left (gone to Chesham apparently) so we had another debutant, Chris Stowe who we've also signed from Hornchurch. All the players went out and gave 100% and I feel tha if we'd been able to name something even approaching a first choice back 4 we'd have got something from the game.

Team

JJ, Savidge, Eastwood, Adedeji, McDonald, Merritt, Graham, Snowsill, Ansell, Wallace, Stowe (Alexander)

Just wanted to say well done to the players last night, who in my opinion gave the best performance for some while against a much more experienced side. I think Braintree's centre halves of Culverhouse and Waters have played more games for Billericay than our entire side have, which just shows you the youthful look of the blues.

Yes we did lose, but we never gave up, and to be fair Paul Cobb was the difference, he was due a goal or two after the amount of chances he's had against us, for Braintree and Heybridge earlier this season.

If we can keep hold of the senior players like Ollie and JJ for the rest of the season, and bring on and improve the likes of Alexander and Stone, and play with the pace and urgency of last night, ( possibly the quickest team weve had for a very long time) whilst we might not win too many more games this year, at least we will be watching a side that is going to be trying to improve and better themselves, instead of just moping around in mid table..

Lets get behind the youngsters and encourage them, i know i would rather watch a team of keen youngsters than a bunch of over paid has beens and glory boys..

Come on you blues, every cloud has a silver lining !!!

Biggest disappointment from last night were the officials - the referee in particular fell for every "dive" from the Braintree players and gave nothing in return - even the most blatent. Dean Parrot's hold on Jamie being the most obvious given the other way. The Braintree player also went down a bit easily for the penalty for my liking.

A draw would have been a fairer result last night given the effort that our team put in - but Braintree were playing with 12 men effectively - so what can you do.

Anybody know what "rattled" JJ after the final whistle?

Agree entirely with Jackers, great to see the young players hunting down the ball. It's imperative we keep hold of some experience (JJ, Ollie, Ansell and Wallo) to form a backbone of the side, and then allow the young guns to express themselves. Interesting comment from Anon. , I thought Stowe held the ball a little too much, but he got a good round of applause when subbed because of his effort.

i have to say that i would rather see a bunch of youthful players playing the heart out for the club regardless of ability like stowe last night who despite not looking as though he had much ability he tried his heart out all night and that is good enough for me

i felt alexander didnt play as well as he did aginat aldershot

also that attendance looked the lowest i have seen this season i doubt that attendce would have reached 200

I think the younsters played really well, but i agree, i thought Alexander had a better game against the shots. I think we'll get a couple of goals on saturday against HItchin now we've got the pace upfront. I thought wallo had a good game and i hope he gets one on the weekend.

C'MON THE BLUES!!!!!!!!!

Unlucky not to have gained something from the game. Usual Braintree tatic of time wasting infuriated everyone, but they were allowed to get away with it by some weak refereeing (yet again). Although he was taking a fair bit of stick, was it necessary for him to turn and face the crowd whilst cupping his hand to his ear, you'd expect that off the players but not the bloody ref! Other than that a much better performance which gives hope for the remaining games. The effort and commitment shown by the players at the moment is first class, even in defeat, and I personally think they deserve a bit more support. So I urge all supporters to march down to New Lodge on saturday in thier thousands (maybe in thier 10's then) to raise the roof in a massive show of support for 'our kids'. Let us bombard the Hitchin till they surrender, no more will people mock our club, let the rest of the Ryman league feel the full force of the 'Ricay backlash. Let us unite in the defence of our motherland (New Lodge) and repel the imperialistic invaders. We shall never surrender!!! 'Ricay till I die!!!!!!!

0-0 saturday then, probably!

I wasnt disapointed with our teams performance on tuesday, i was mainly disapointed about the fact that hardly any one turned up. It has really got on my nerves. At the start of the season, we had some really good turnouts, now, when we have a bit of a bad patch, no one gives a crap any more and dont bother going. Great "supporters" they are!

Don't be daft. It's not a bad patch. I was there (and it was a clear penalty from a naive challenge in response to an earlier post) but I can understand anyone who does not want to watch what is not only a team made up largely of our reserves but Hornchurch's too.

How many people watch the reserves usually, 'cos that's the likely crowd by the end of the season after the disgraceful actions of the club.

By the way, magnificent is not a strong enough word to desribe the recent performances of JJ and Ollie. I expected better than we got from other senior man Graham on Tuesday, I suppose he'll be gone by tomorrow.
