Attendances...

Recommended Posts

I know for reasons various we are not blessed with decent-sized crowds in the ESL, but I see the Dodo's average crowd has now dwindled to TEN.

Surely this makes a mockery of the EFA to award them senior status? I am sure Braintree Wanderers would have made a better fist of things and would have attracted a few more fans, but no, the EFA, in their infinite wisdom decided to give it to a team from Middlesex. Well done EFA and I am sure the decision wasn't PC-based.

PS: Said FA are refusing to comment on the 'senior status award' despite numerous emails.

Jenks, Manor are an established side. Surely if you wish to enhance your league, you don't give a team from a different county senior status, then expect them to rip up trees ground sharing 25 miles away from their home base.

Why they got the nod and not Braintree Wanderers leaves a bad taste..

Clearly there isn't enough support in the Asian community to sustain two clubs (three if you include Sporting Bengal United in the Kent League) in such a small area.

If rumours are true that Bethnal Green United will be playing at the Mile End Stadium next season, then there is likely to be one less Asian club on the scene as it is likely that either Beaumont & Sporting Bengal will merge or one of them will fold/drop back to park football.

Attempting to enthuse the interest of what is a growing Asian community in east London/west Essex is a laudable venture but clearly one that isn't working judging by the attendance figures.

The mauritius management and players are nice people and are working really hard to bridge the gap of moving to step 5 football. Those attendances figures are made of away supporters, they don't have any following at all, plus the fact of playing at Aveley doesn't really help. frown

Tower Hamlets and Newham have the highest Bengali population in Britain. Add to this it is at present suffering the highest heroin uptake in Britain, one of the highest unemployment rates in Britain, is one of the most deprived areas in Britain and a massive gang culture developing is it any wonder they have no support?
