bit of a silly reply harry...we don't have a full time playing staff to pay and 600k's worth of debt to massage and nor do we have 25000 new fans....

do try and keep matters sensible... laugh

well the trophy is well worth winning slarti ...I was having a good chat with stimmo after the vets game at the bridge today and he has great memories of it and so he should....anyway I digress....trophy or not and main saturday shopping before xmas or not it surely has to be of some concern and I wonder how many new fans were there...understandable in a league or county cup but surely not the trophy... smile

You'd know all about debt.

This worked last week so I'll try it again.

How do you know how big our debt is?

Not disagreeing it was a pants crowd, UU, but not entirely unexpected if you look around the other clubs: Grays 401, Histon 316, Oxford three thousand down on their usual gate, Crawley 667.

While it's a worry, I think I'd be more worried if our league gates started to fall below 900 on a regular basis (though falling to even 900 is a worry in itself).

yeah I saw those attendances and it is a worrying trend in NL....although ours are up slightly on last year they are in fact down when you take the away support averages into consideration...

not good stu...not good...

I've never understood why these games are so poorly attended, I know it's only the FA Trophy but I think knockout games are more exciting! There is usually a lot more energy to these games too because it is an all or nothing game. I'd love the team to win something this year.

The 'lets not go today, it's only the FA Trophy' supporters are..silly.

(no offence if you didn't go...)

The attendance was dissapointing but finding out why it was so low is important for us to progress.

*Puts Chatham Gary suit on*

So it is a week to go until Christmas, not the most appetising opposition and as much as the club won't like it the attendance was down because people are not happy about the MyFC thing.

A lot of people are saying that they will go while their season ticket gets them in for nothing, so to speak, but if they have to pay they simply won't go. I'd be interested to see how many season ticket holders have chosen this option. I must say that while I don't agree with them I can't blame them.

Another reason is the situation with the markets at the moment. No-ones lending money anymore and overdrafts are being refused. People just don't have the money to spend on football, especially with Christmas here.

God that was weird.

No offence taken. I have two holidays planned for the next 5 months and they need saving for (although one is free, so that's just spending money needs saving) so I'm having to pick and chose my games.

Cup games at the fleet in the last few seasons, especially non FA cup games, have tended to be played with little or no enthusiasm by a second string team that is put together. It has seemed in the past that they couldn't be bothered, so neither can I to be honest. Losses in the past few years to teams like Bishop's Stortford, Weston Super Mare and Boreham Wood aren't going to encourage many people to trek out in the cold to perhaps see a repeat performance.

From those I spoke to about it, yesterday seemed like a pretty good game (well the second half), so that's good, but if it's a choice between an FA trophy game of a league game, I'll always chose the League game

Fair enough comment - 'Twas one of the reasons I posted on Friday aboout lowering the entrance costs for games like these, especially this close to Christmas.

Honestly though, even if they lowered the prices for these games I doubt many more people would have come and then it would just been an extra loss for the club. Remember the kids go free days? Didn't really get the attendance up did it. Nice idea though.

I think it's more to do with effort rather than money.

I think that's a very blinkered view. My reason for not going yesterday had nothing to do with 'effort'. I simply couldn't afford it. It wasn't an 'effort' to go to all the other games I've been to in freezing cold, wet and windy conditions over the years, I just went, as I would have yesterday could I have done
