Could locals help MYFC members at games ?

I and a few others are pushing the charity side of MYFC. We have made links with a charity in Northern Ireland to send old footie shirts to Uganda in February. This was done as it was easy to set up. Just an article and a place to post shirts. It is hoped that something like this will be run every quarter. The next one has to be in the Ebbsfleet area. No idea what, but will be open to offers after Christmas, I think it should be football related.

We have a full Kit in the old Gravesend Reporter sponsorship, we would like to donate to this charity as we were given a new kit for the supporters team. It consists of socks, shirts and shorts and a keepers kit.

Thank You Stuart for your very generous offer. The only thing is, you would have to post the kit to N. Ireland at your own cost.

I only mentioned the shirt thing in passing, as it would be wrong to come on here asking for stuff. I will private message you the address for sending the kit if you decide the postage cost is acceptable. If anybody want the address, please private message me and I will send you the details.

Thanks again, Footie Fans are good people :-)

Err....no thanks !! I already have a badge which says "don't talk to me as I am a miserable Southern b'stard "!

Nothing personal.

However, I was introduced to a nice young lady called Angela yesterday, who is, I believe, a MyFC member....so it's not all bad !!

Cheers,

Some sort of waterproof footwear may be in order then ? Have you got a pair of Wellingtons ? No, he doesn't take my size !! A ha ha HA HA laugh

Seriously though, we need to know the plans for the new stadium, if any exist, as it's no good wasting money on the current ground if it can be better utilised for the new ground.....or is there no new ground ?

I did raise the question at the last AGM to which the response was that negotiations were underway but progress could not be revealed at this (that) stage !!

Cheers,

Sometime, can someone tell me a bit about the new ground story ?

There was a thread on the MYFC forum to the effect that a new ground boosts attendances. I think it quoted Swansea whee thery averaged say 8,000 for 13 years, then it was half as much again for the new ground over 3 years.

Guess step 1 is to fill Stonebridge .

I spluttered my tea on that one!

No point having a new ground and a thousand in it I wouldnt think.

One of the reasons that our crowds are poor is the facilities on offer. I think all my fellow fleet fans would agree that this is a concern in the 21st century. To compound matters, Dartford ( a few miles up the road ), opened a new 4,000 all seater stadium at the begining of this season. They got 900+ for their game against bottom side Wivenhoe in The Ryman Div 1 North League yesterday, and we got 412 !!

As I said, this is ONE of the reasons why I think attendances are not what they should be. You will always get the diehards who will turn up, me included.

As CG said, there have been talks about a new ground ( we don't own this one in case you were not aware ). I have been informed that discussions have taken place with "partners" including the Borough Council, but we have not been updated with anything further.

I take it that you have not visited San Stonebridge ? You will never fill it unless we have a plum home tie in the FA Cup or unless we have a repeat of a 2 horse race, such as with Canvey a few seasons ago.

I am not going to be able to get to the Fans Forum tomorrow night, but someone might like to ask for an update ? Also YF, you can ask Will Brooks as surely this must form part of the talks for the takeover ?

As I have said before, with all the re develoment here ( Thames Gateway etc), a multipurpose sports stadium should be high on the agenda ? and it might well be..... but who knows ?

Yours,

King Mushroom !

I have spoken to a few of the new people. Answering questions on players , where toilets are and one asked me yesterday where the famouse snipers loos were.

We had a new guy with son come yesterday> Son is about 3 or 4 and that is our future

These people who visit ar eputting money into our club and they should be welcomed.

My point exactly RS.

I don't like a lot of what I'm reading on the MyFC forum but if I welcome these people they will spend more money at the ground and hopefully become regulars.

We need to increase attendances some how in order to progress, or even survive, the locals don't seem interested so we may as well try this.

Hirsty, we are promised an update on the situation, possibly in the form of an article. I think that may be very near especially as there is a Fans Forum. I am sure that it will be chewed over on both forums when issued.

Are you of the opinion that a new Stadium is a matter of urgency ? I mean, even if it was OK'ed today, it would take a while to build. With my dreamers positive hat on again, if the MYFC works and over a 5 year period we get a promotion or 2, I am sure we will all want a new stadium. I know people have a strong feeling for old grounds, I did for Filbert Street, but there is a lot to be said for having warm toilets and a roof :-)

Probably not to maintain the status quo, but if MyFC and the Fleet are serious about wanting to make progress then, yes, I would say it was a matter of urgency.

Then the fun will start, Capacity ?

Did you see that Scunthorpe who had a new ground in my lifetime, are now looking about getting another one ? Might be fun to do a bit of research to see for example how big other grounds are being built ? , Colchester I think could be interesting. Not so long ago they were conference, now they are Championship .

Ofcourse a bigger ground will be dearer, but the basic land cost would be about the same unless you had to allow for more parking. Grounds can also be built with possible expansion in mind.

A new ground would be a great project, but how many teams have had a financial millstone around their necks with a new ground.

As somebody said, we are living in interesting times.

My MyFC photo diary continues at full pace.
Thanks Angela :-)

Angela and her friend have been at pretty much every match since Oxford.

I think that is commendable considering some of the dross that we have played.
