Exactly - only way to make the bloody thing bearable. I was & I bet my hangover is worse than yours, Gary. Not as bad, though, as the one currently being suffered by the bloke on the train who caused the rest of us to move carriage on account of his being Uncle Dick. Probably a good thing, though. Made me wake up. One year I woke up at Chatham, raced over the footbridge to get a train back to Gravesend & got on the wrong one. Next thing I knew my mobile phone was ringing. It was my daughter, enquiring as to my whereabouts and it was 4am. It took me some time to answer her as I'd lost my specs, but I eventually realised I was freezing to death on a bench on Faversham railway station.

Ah! The joys of Christmas.

Ha ha. My first wife cited that of me when she wanted a divorce. Did it 3 weeks on the trot. First time she picked me up in Gillingham at 2am. Second time she wasn't so understanding but picked me up. Third time she told me to [****!!****] off and die. Woman??? No sense of humour.

I am glad that there are other people in this exclusive £30 club!
I have been pretty good recently but this has caused me untold hassle in the past few years.

Same here. I find a short end of barbed wire round the thigh (like the mad monk in The Da Vinci Code) connected via electric current to a mobile phone alarm clock set to go off 75 seconds before the train pulls into Gravesend works wonders.

As long as you don't mind losing use of a leg as well as having a hangover.

Anyway, famous train journeys aside, the problem can be eradicated quite easily by:-

a) The stewards doing their job & ejecting said troublemakers from ground.

B) If a) above cannot be achieved, we will have to have Hobby Bobbys or proper Old Bill to "police" crowd control ( in which case the stewards will be out of work !)

c) make all games segregated.

Option c) would be a shame as that would f*ck it up for the majority who don't mind "mingling", and would also deprive the club of bar takings.

Option B) would cost a lot of money.......not withstanding the 20 old bill searching for the missing HMRC Cds !!

...so I would like to favour option a).....which I thought was the whole point of club stewards anyway ?? at any ground.....

....or is life not that simple ?

Cheers,

Apart from my Faversham adventure, I must confess to having done Gillingham twice, the first time before everyone had a mobile phone, but all public call boxes were still vandalised as a matter of course. Spent hours in an unheated waiting room/shed that had a distinct lingering aroma of stale urine, with a couple of other unfortunates, before getting the 1st train back. Wife unsure whether to rejoice that I was alive or kill me for scaring the crap out of her when I rolled in at 5.30. Went to work that day as well. B*ggered if I'd be so conscientious now.

Oh & Hirsty keep up grin , this thread had already gone seriously awol from its title & the ratboys & segregation were being discussed under "Anyone see the new morons ..."
