and to add to your initial question Jerry i would say its difficult. I think the boys who were involved with AFCH/Brentwood would say they werent particularly flair teams . They were great at week in week out getting a scrappy win at bad grounds. The amount of times id pick the phone up after a game to hear Hornchurch scored an 85th min pen or something ! i used to do my nut !!

For pure results driven mentality you couldnt beat Hornchurch , but i think our side of this year with the amount of attack minded flair players in it would give that side a good game . I couldnt say who i thought was better as i think sides that have won the league and treble are unparalleled . Maybe ,whoever wins the league this year can get compared to them . But to compare a league champion and a team who hasnt yet won it , well you cant compare them really

Dont think you can compare it though deaders when you have cowley,healesy in both our sides. Healesy i always thought was a hugely influential player for HFC when he dropped in the hole , he was so hard to mark.

I would be that nice that you can have N Cowley and Heale and we would just play with Burbs, Holland or Drakey up top, and a midfield of Tiffin, D Cowley,Perry and Sontag or we could even play Kingy in midfield instead

Different era I know, but the Billericay side of 76 and 77 put the ESL on the map. Twice winning the Vase (as and ESL side) plus numerous other titles.

Still cannot work out how Stansted won the Vase in 84 though...
