Music for the Urchins visit

Can we expect a "Christmassy feel" to the play list Gazza? The normal Slade, Wizzard, Greg Lake & Chris De Burgh stuff, or are you going "left field"; maybe a bit of Jethro Tull. My favourite "winter" singles were Ronnie Lanes' "The Poacher" & George Harrisons "Ding Dong", although that's more a New Year record.

If we get "All Around My Hat" or anything by Cliff Richard I may self combust.

I was going to avoid Xmas songs as it's not the last Saturday before Xmas but I'll give in if you want Xmas songs...

Of course I was going to put on the Pogues but any other requests?

Now Jethro Tull is a pick as far as I am concerned and Rick, you know that "left field" is where I sit when it comes to choosing some of the music...

I'd agree about the Christmas songs maybe being a bit early, but if you were thinking of playing a few with a "wintery" theme these would be my choices:-

Jethro Tull - Ring Out Solstice Bells

Led Zep - Immigrant Song

Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Fanfare for the Common Man.

Rod Stewart/Faces - Los Paraguas

Beatles - Help

Ronnie Lane - The Poacher

Some of those have a very tentative link to Winter, but still "do it" for me. brille008

Nope, there are many of us that remember (and like) the band. We just skulk about in the shadows. I think Rick was referring to their "Christmas Song" (which has a great line "Hey, Santa. Pass us the bottle") or "Ring Out Solstice Bells" but I'm more inclined to play "God Rest!!! Ye Merry Gentlemen" (is that left field enough for ya, Rick?).

The Xmas songs have now been put into the list for tomorrow. All I need do now is play with the running order (for maximum enjoyment and er....excitement).

I have shyed away from the "over" popular classics (there will be one or two but I'm not jam packing it).

The Pretenders "2000 Miles"

Dean Martin "Let It Snow"

The Pogues "Fairytale In New York"

Chris Rea "Driving Home For Christmas"

Shakin' Stevens "Blue Christmas"

East 17 "Stay Another Day"

Jethro Tull "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen"

Of the non Xmas classics, I'm toying with the following

Rainbow "All Night Long"

Steeleye Span "All Around My Hat"

Graham Bonnet "Night Games"

Erasue "Sometimes"

Yazzo "Only You" (a passing nod to another Xmas No. 1)

Ultravox "Vienna"

Led Zeppelin "Gallows Pole" (for the Long Haired bikers that get themselves confused with Morris Dancers)

Heaven 17 "Play To Win"

Queen "Don't Stop Me Know"

So...I'm going to be a busy boy tonight.

If you see a puff of smoke when Steeleye Span is played, that'll be me spontaneously self combusting flame
