Maidenhead Utd Youth 0 WEFC Youth 2

On a freezing cold night, WEFC took a depleted squad to high-flying, unbeaten Maidenhead at York Road. The hosts started brightly and they posed a threat mainly through their wide players, but one brilliant save from Sam Richards and some determined defending kept the score at 0 - 0 at half time. Windsor had lost Redi Mahmuti after just 10 minutes with a recurring hamstring problem and he was replaced by Danny Hill who had been out with injury for 5 weeks. Windsor, too, had some chances with George Martin working well up front.

Although Maidenhead hit the post early in the second half, WEFC continued to deal effectively with their attacks, and took a good foothold in the game. On 70 minutes, a Windsor corner wasn't cleared properly, and full back Mark Lines hit a sweet half volley from 15 yards to put us one up. Another injury to Tom Hartridge meant some juggling round of positions, but WEFC coped admirably with the forced changes. Ten minutes later, a sweeping move put Ben Tindall through and he smashed a left foot shot high into the top corner. Windsor saw out the game and might easily have scored more. It was an excellent performance from the whole side in difficult circumstances. Tom Hall and Mark Lines were again outstanding for Windsor.

Team : Richards;McRoberts;Hall;Hartridge (Jayes);Lines;O'Shaughnessy;Bartlett;Lazarczuk;Mahmuti(Hill);Martin;Tindall.
