What is everyones view on Louie Evans, im getting mixed thoughts about him, the lad has alot of skill and i think he can win us things in and around the box but he looks a little slow.

A Little slow!!!!!!!! he has the pace but i think we all agree he is still a bit 'raw'. Some fine tuning and a season of games in the conference should sort him out. I think he is a cracking talent and despite what some people say now, i think he has the ability to partner Che. That in itself leaves the super subs positions for Tostao and Liam.

Louie IS good enough now and will only improve after he bangs the first one in!!!!!!!!!

Not good enough for the first team YET. Neither is Kevin Budge, neither is Liam Hatch, neither is Craig Wilkins, neither was Hamid Barr, neither was Akpo Sodje, neither was Del Bryan, neither was Warren Williams, neither was Adolph Amoko, neither was Paul Booth (sadly), neither was that bloke from Carshalton who played a few games up front last year, neither was Gary Abbott...I think that list of strikers says it all....Ohhhhh dear me, almost forgot that we tried to get Carl Bartley at the start of last season..Any other rubbish ive forgotten from the last few years???

Louie Evans slow...

...I don't think so. He has the pace and ability to get into goal scoring positions, but lacks that final touch to put them away, at the moment.

I believe once he gets a few goals he'll relax and the flood gates will open. Not this season, there isn't enough time, but next if Andy keeps him on and he wants to sign for us again. He may be our 20+ a season goalscorer. grin.gif

I don't even think it's relevant to pick him as a subject for a thread - presumably because he missed two chances, he's being held up for scrutiny.

I like him, he gives his all, and he plays some very good passes from the front. Sure, he's not the answer to the regular goalscoring problem, but he's a useful player with more potential than some. Lay off him everyone.

i agree with everyone posting on this thread, i stuck up for him on the previous thread too. i think hes got bags of talent and will mature into a good player, we should try and keep him for a few seasons. his finishing is down to nervousness i think because he can finish. his goal against erith in the kent cup was an outstanding finish. and he does have pace and can hold up well. I think with the right people, Che and loue will make a good partnership...and despite what people say...CHe is a goal scorer.

Remember his first appearance as well - that game at Dagenham when he came on as sub, and certainly livened things up - almost pulled us back into the game that day as well, with a screamer against the woodwork.

Hes quite capable - as I said in a previous thread - and Matt, you really need to bare this in mind - we dont have a five figure sum to throw around to buy players from higher levels, who we know could produce regular goals for us, and until we do, we can only try and nurture players who have the potential - and Louie has the potential.

The fear is that it wont be allowed to develop if people get on his back from this early stage.

Andy made it plain when he brought him to the club that, in an ideal world, he wouldnt throw him in to first team action as quickly as he did, so even though hes in the team, I'm sure Andy will be looking for him to build on his performances to date. And I certainly believe he's quite capable of doing that.

Alright, you could pick out his 2 chances on Saturday and complain that they went badly wide, but he got himself in those positions to start with. Equally, even good strikers miss chances they should take - just look at Michael Owen for a lengthy period this season - if he'd been a Fleet player, I think some of our fans would have even had him banished from the club, never to be seen again.

And, for those of you crying out for us to get an all singing and all dancing striker, lets not forget that it would use up much of the budget and thus weaken other areas of the side (without extra income, could we keep the Duku's and Bentley's of this world if we paid for such a striker?). Equally, there can be too much of a reliance on one player - one wonders how Northwich would have done had Blundell been injured and unable to play for a significant part of the season (he certainly looked just about their only player likely to score at our place).

As usual, my overlong message, I'm afraid, but I hope it makes good sense !!

A well written response Alan.....My point above was really to emphasise that despite many excellent signings by Andy during his time at the club, his striker signings have been absolutely awful in relative comparison. I hope Louie makes it Alan i really do, as i want to see the Fleet do well. Ill do a pledge with u Alan, there are 6 games left, if Louie scores three goals ill pledge 50 GBP to Jessica...If he scores less than 3, u can pay the 50 GBP. What do u say??

Definately one to hold onto, when the first goal goes in, I reckon he will start scoring for fun!

The reason for my optimism,is the fact that I strongly disagree with those who think he is slow, he is very quick indeed, remember its a big step up into Conference football in terms of the speed of the game and it takes time to adjust accordingly. He appears to be able to get into the right place at the right time, all he needs is a bit of confidence. He is a bit raw but is a trier and a TEAM player, which is more than can be said of the supporters favourite at the moment.
