How did the new lads play last night

How did the youngster Quaine and Jake Eastwood fit in last night.

Aaron Quaine, as has been mentioned by Porka and others, played well with some great crosses, not bad for an 18 year old. Jake did OK at centre of defence I thought, tho I believe he may have missed the tackle that allowed their No 9 to score.

Eastwood started verty well I thought but I wonder if all the changes around him unsettled him. I reckon Jay did a good job of constantly talking to Eastwood.

Impressed with Quain for most of the game, looked confident and comfortable in possession. Thought Eastwood looked solid most of the game although did feel he should have made it more difficult for their number 9 for the goal. jake1.jpg

But then other centre halfs in blue shirts haven't always been as quick to close down as would have liked this season. Overall thought both acquited themselves well although not strongest opposition.

yes a shame the opposition wasnt stronger to really test them but I think the fact there was a little bit of struggling says quite a lot. I guess these are what weaker cup games are there for though. Certainly the above goal was down to Eastwood - that doesnt bother me so much, more the overall lack of awareness which will always show if you havent played a decent level for so long.

I thought that the new boys done very well. True that Jake played better with Jay Saunders along side him.

The only mistake that he made all night led to Welling scoring.

Jay i believe ??? also made one mistake last night, but was let off the hook when Matt Bowles saved with his legs.

Matt made a few top drawer saves, but Aaron Quaine stood out for me from the young bunch with some excellent crosses in from the left. I hope that Jake gets some more first team action as i am sure that he can make the grade at this level.

In reality Jake will probably play the odd cup game and perhaps get in on an injury crisis. But the centre back issues will not be solved im afraid as he has no experience at this level and at 26 he needs to have had. I know Trotty is still desperate for a centre-half as his solution didnt come last night. In terms of mistakes he was shaky with distribution and also seemed lacking in pace. It should be rememmbered we played a very young and weak Welling side last night - unfortunately he would be found out completely at ryman level. We cant afford that.

Admire your loyalty though!

I remember going into KP's office early last season and telling him about Young Aaron, asking, if there was any way of giving him a contract. I believe at that time he was just 16 and, recovering from a serious injury.

Unlike a lot of youngster, while he was out, he went into the gym, bulked up his frame and legs. He has a good attitude.

I still believe he should be given a contract to protect the club?.

im a margate supporter and iv been to see them a few times this season and last season and i think robin trot has lost the plott. he is loaning all these players from different clubs without checking out the reserves. i use to wtch the reserves quite a lot and personaly think most of them players could probaly make it in the first team squad. jake is an outstanding player along with the other centre backs, heathy, harquer and soul all 3 of those players r just as good as louis smith. u cant judge a player on just 1 game. i would love to c margate 1st team v margate reserves would be a very interesting game. robin trot needs to wake up and look to his youth.

Posts like this wont help the cause troublemakmer (Jake!)!!!! Afraid (as proven many times) the gap between first team and reserves is vey big. As for "looking to his youth" Jake is 26 isnt he/you? Hardly a spring chicken in footballing terms especially when sunday league is all he has played.

And Qauine did take his chance it seems in everyones opinion.

Well although I didn't see Jake I believe and feel both he or Alan heath could do a better job at the back. I don't think Smith is any better than Jake or Alan. In fact I think he isn't as good but I'm not the Gaffer am I! I don't think the gap is that big i'm affraid. Not now we're playing Ryman Prem. The reserve's could do a job in the Kent league Prem i'm sure. Especially against the likes of Faversham and Homesdale.

I don't think people should turn a blind eye to the Sunday league. Some good and experienced players play in it. I think the best sides in any league play with passion and will run ragged for their club even at my standard of football. Thats why Ramsgate are where they are! (dare i say it)

I think Louis gets a bad press because the ressie players are jealous - and frankly it doesnt help them with their continual abuse of Trotty and co. i remember Louis and Dan against Tonbridge, tremendous performances. Jake failed to impress against 18 year old welling players; Trotty (i hope) isnt stupid and he must know like most of us that the gap is much bigger than the reserves like to think. Nothing against the reserves, I watch them and think there is potential - but no-one will ever convince me that a mid-20s player who has only ever played sunday football can suddenly sort our defence out. Im pretty sure Trotty knows that!
