TONIGHTS LATEST FROM TONBRIDGE

I did say it'd be a draw achso

Your first goal, was a penalty. Angels had had most of the attacking play up until then. From where i was watching it looked like a it should have been a pen, but i wasn't that close.

Your second goal was superb frown

Both of our goals came by way of pens (Razor Powell & Hamid Barr). That said i think we played the better football. You tried to hold onto the lead, but i suppose a draw was meant to be...

Well I've just about thawed out...

Not ideal preparation for this game, being stuck on the M25 - our fans were still arriving half an hour in.

Tonbridge had a more of the possession throughout the game but I wouldn't say that Jack had more saves to make than their keeper. We started with the same XI as the previous 2 games, midway through the half Burbs was replaced by Shave and we went to a 4-5-1/4-3-3 type formation which saw us get more into the game. Shave had an interesting debut, first 5 minutes clattered into 3 tackles and got booked then got tripped for the pen. Second half he calmed down and made some good contributions to both defence and attack.

The last 20 mins we looked like we were running on empty, thought we could have brought on Pegg or Lay if only to give us some fresh legs. As we got tired mistakes crept in and that's what hurt us.

Why was Burbs replaced? It seemed an early sub... Glad to see Shave making his debut though. I had to argue his name with our little blue box man as he had him down as Shane shocked

I did hear that 100 of your fans got stuck in the snarl up.

Does TC like cigars? smile

It was quite a good game I thought, but like the others said it's a bit disappointing we couldn't hold onto the lead but I suppose we would have taken a draw at the start.

So you were one of the ones shouting "Essex scum" then Bitch? Nice one.

Thought it was a cracking game, especially the first half, even if Tonbridge were running the show. Plenty of passing football from both sides. Referee hardly had to blow his whistle until Shane came on, ceratinly made an impact!!!! Doremer was everywhere, as usual, my MOTM. Think we need to get BWG more involved. He seemed to lose interest in the 2nd half - no one would let him play. Nice ground, nice people, easy journey (normally!), good opponents. Draw a fair result. Roll on AFC.

What a night ! You could not write a script like it ! Left home at 5pm - got to Dartford Crossing at 7.05pm. At one stage we were genuinely believing we would not get there this side of xmas!

Then, how cold was it ! Brrr - But gotta hand it to 'em for a top burger!

Thought Tonbridge came out brightly and took us a while to get going but at 2-0 i still thought it would be tight game. Liked this new guy Paul Shave, and he is going to scare a few opposition just by the way he dont pull out ! Ouuch grin

Booty scores from spot and BWG scored a corker..Second half Tonbridge again came at us but thought we held firm and then the ref evened the pen count. Then i thought our work rate really upped - even theough the temperature dipped! Alas twas not to be as i think Jack must have caught their strikers leg for the second pen.

Anyway, take heart lads n lasses - 4 games undefeated. Just need to turn some draws into wins now lads.

All in all a pleasing display in their short sleeve shirts grin

Unlucky lads and well done !

Now for the journey home...Beautiful...followed this grand prix driver wink back to M25 and was thinking thats it back indoors for me cocoa...Alas twas not to be....M25 decides that 4 lanes is just too much so we'll make it one lane open - Still alls well and hope everyone else got back safely..

Oh, and just got a text from Nobby....He has just arrived at Tonbridge laugh

I don't think that was Bitch, JL...but their supporters had two chants..."Essex Scum" and "W*nker" (whenever Jack took a goal kick) which is pretty poor coming from the home support (Nice to see the notice for abusive chanting being understood and enforced...LOL!!!).

Anyway, on with the game...Following a nightmare journey (which was mitigated by the comfort of my new car, I must add), it was good to "warm" to an entertaining game. Although Tonbridge had quite a lot of the ball, I thought we were the more dangerous when we got into their box. Some nice runs from BWG topped by a quality goal, some great control and battling from Tony Boot. Dormer again was a tower of detirmination in midfield and apart from the two Tonbridge penalties (first one was a mystery, second a mistake from Jack - can't knock him though, he did make a couple of supreb saves), our back four had a solid game. Our new signing certainly wanted to impress and I thought Leon had one of his better games, being released from his holding role to attack more.

Overall, I'm not disapointed with the effort our lads put in and the result - it was fair - but I just wish we could've held on for those three points. I can't knock what Jason and Grant have done since they've taken over so far. We have yet to lose a game but we're still down the wrong end of the table. With how the team are playing at the moment, I hope that some of our injured players are available soon. Some players are looking tired (again) and IMO need a rest. If you look at the squad on paper and include those players that are missing, we've quite an impressive team and bench...So, equate the hard working performances of late, the return of those injured players to the squad, I believe things will get very interesting, come their return (before Xmas?). Hopefully they'll be back before our visit to Melbourne Park and round off end the year with tw*ting the Clarets!!! Knowing the players detirmination, I wouldn't put it past them to follow that with an all out, successful run to put us in the play off's...

...but first, little acorns, little acorns...

This Shaves, is he really Warren Ryan in disguise?

Bar the first 25, it was a good performance against a useful Tonbridge side. Quality goal from BWG and another MOM performance from Dormer. Hunter had his best game for a while, maybe benefitting from Shave being on the pitch.

Well done to those that made it, I know quite a few had to miss out due to the M25.
