Ramsgate game plan seemed to be simply to try and kick us off the park until their goal came. Some of the challenges were really 'X rated' and totally over the top.

Their bench was highly animated throughout the game and their tactics seemed to be to bully the referee who at best was very weak.

The atmosphere was not very pleasant and Ramsgate will win few friends if they continue to adopt this kind of approach.

Sadly, we should have claimed all three points tonight and would have done but for the defensive mix up. The team put in a sterling effort and should take great heart from their performance. It all bodes well for our Saturday trip to Billericay.

I admit you were the better team on the night we didnt start well, u did look confident but nothing special and we were poor compared to our normal home performances.

Some of the challanges was bad but your team made some nasty tackles your keeper went in with his elbow on our striker steffan ball and knocked him to the floor and the ref didnt even give a free kick and some of the decisions that went you way were very questionable.

The main reason for why the bench got animated i know Jim does get up and show his emotion not a manager to hide his frustration but he wasnt happy with the ref and why should he be.

Once we did settle late into the second half lol, we matched you and showed a glimpse of what we are capable of and the pressure finally came though with the equliser and for that 10 mins after could of score 2 or 3 more.

To be honest it had a draw written all over it no team really took their chances or outclassed quite even in my view.

The atmospere was ok i felt, i saw some young hornchurch lads on the pool table in the clubhouse and sets of both fans chating having a laugh friendly drink, and just some chanting for our team on the terrancing, i expected a bit more noise for your team from the amount suggested as away support.

Anyways wish you all the best for the season, you do have a good side and should be up in the play-offs and looking forward to the trip to your place.

Regards

Mundz xx

I agree that you were the better side for the vast majority of the game. You played well and we did look extremely poor, especially in the first half. And yes, Jimmy Ward does get agitated, which I don't think is necessarily a bad thing - it is when he adds those rather heavy swear words which I'm not entirely partial to.

Where I have to disagree with you is with regard to our tactics. There were indeed a couple of poor tackles from Ramsgate players which received bookings - some I believe were out of frustration at that referee. I'd also say that I think some of your players made worse challenges than us quite frequently. Your number 7 should have been sent straight off when he took Lee Minshull (no.9) out and your keeper should at least have been penalised for taking out Steffan Ball (no.10)soon after we had equalised. So I'd say we weren't particularly bullying and the tactics were not to kick your lot off the park, and I thought some of your players were going into 'X-rated' tackles.

Anyway, that's just an aside really. You looked a handy side who deserves to reach the play-offs as you look to play good football. I hope you enjoyed your trip down to Ramsgate third time around; best of luck for the rest of the season.

Must go along with some of the other Rams here. Our left back was lucky to stay on after his tackle early on, but it wasn't all one way - some of your lads weren't exactly pulling out of their challenges either.

I'd like to know what you thought of the ref. I thought he was rubbish both ways, not biased but incompetent. As for the game you had more of it but for chances we could have gone two up straight after we scored, so maybe 1-1 was about right.

Fair play to your supporters great turnout under all the ciorcumstances.

Good luck and hope we weren't as bad as some would lead you to believe

I always say it the way I see it and I think I probably agreed with all of your points in my other thread....I didn't post the quote above which was somewhat condensed from sids updates recd from me in ramsgate....so please read my other summary and you will see that it just about fits in with everyone else's views..in fact hang on a mo' and I'll copy and paste it on here....

right here it is....

took me 2 hours to get there and 2 hours to get back so thats 6 hours travelling to watch one ryman premier match....must be a record.... grin..

the match itself was not for the faint hearted and although I know that a lot of the hijinks from jim and his jester in the stands is tongue in cheek it won't gain any fans in non league football.... the screaming and shouting over every decision at the ref and the lino and the abuse aimed at our bench is not really my idea of a good football match and quite frankly I didn't rate the ramsgate team either.....they just kick and kick until something happens...and in fairness something did...they equalised and nicked a point.... frown

much to the relief of burke and hare.. blk_md_wht blu_md_wht

having said that it is NL footie and there are teams like ramsgate that take great motivation from being physically capable and to be fair after it had all started we were not exactly angels either both on and off the pitch....the arrival of the eastside into the adjoining directors area after half time certainly quietened jim and the jester thats for sure... devil

we should have won it as we were much the better team but for the umpteemph time this season we have conceded a goal against the run of play by backing off a midfield runner....great starting changes from colin with limited options and great play from the lads on the pitch in a very physical game....there will be a few battered and bruised from boths sides in the morning...(and I trust and hope that the ramsgate boy stretchered of is okay)

there was little heard from the much vaunted local gobby chavs and in the main mostly friendly and decent fans down there...very accomodating staff and very friendly and hospitable officials...if they can temper down the repetitive pitchside bollox from burke and hare the club will be better respected for it.....just my opinion but don't hold your breath... harlekin

well done colin and the lads...10 points from a possible 15 from the kent badlands and not many will do that...and also a big well done to the 50 travelling urchins on a sub zero night .. applause

up to 8th and onwards to ricay on saturday....

I know that jim has done a superb job at ramsgate and of the pitch a nicer guy you couldn't wish to meet but his antics on it and those of his asst from the home directors box abusing anyone that moves is not quite my idea of how it should be done...and yes I found everyone most accomodating and friendly but not unfortunately during the game...

as you say we move on and look forward to you visiting us soon...hopefully twice if we can dispose of maidstone in the LC...
