... underway. It's even stopped raining so if you're not already on your way, why not come down and see the new pitches and enjoy the football and Q&A session with the football legends in the Hartsdown Bar.

PS It was too wet for Margator.

Margator made it in the end.Considering the weather it was a very good day.

I had to leave before the Q & A session but things seem to have gone down well.(Should be going on until around 6-630pm if you fancy going up there still).

The "Legends" that appeared & showed off their skills on the 5-a-sides were Neville Southall, Steve Sedgeley,Mark Bright,Ray Parlour,Kenny Samson,Clayton Blackmore, Paul Merson & Kerry Dixon.

Pitch was waterlogged earlier but is beginning to dry out now. No big game played on there today & Tuesday's match was in doubt earlier according to Ray. Hopefully we can get some nice weather & drying winds between now & Tuesday night.

Look out for "Yourthanet " free newspaper on Wednesday as I'm reliably told there will be some pics etc on todays event in there & also a link to a video which will be up on their site on Wednesday also.

Frankies friend turned up. Saw Gary Lever too.

Was well worth the visit today, considering the weather & it was well attended too and might I add that the club had everything covered today in a very professional way.

Well done all the many volunteers & to Wellsie for supplying the christmas feel(music)all day.

Exceedingly well done Margate FC.

Really good turn out with many teams. Got little wet but we were one of the teams that got an early away as we won the first game but lost the next 2. Surface is good and facilities pretty good too. Only one concern though. The price of hiring a pitch is very expensive. £40 per hour as I was told. Birch USC pay £15 per hour for half the pitch at minster for training on a wednesday night. I guess time will tell now as to how successful they will be. All in all GOOD STUFF MFC.

I think the £40.00 is pretty standard for those type of places Paul. With teams playing for an hour with subs, floodlight facilities and changing rooms works out at less than £4.00 a player, not too bad. Would think that local teams wanting to play/practice without using waterlogged pitches this time of year it will be a godsend.

I hope so steve. I really do! Thing that concerns me is that if youth teams want to use it at £3 a time, will there parents be able to afford it. I was told today by the Birch USC manager that he pays roughly £15 for half of the Minster Pitch for an hour. I really hope the pitches at MFC are successful and would like to use them myself. The cost does concern me though.

Had a great day yesterday. Was lucky enough, along with Melvin, to be given the job of looking after the legends in sponsors lounge for the day. What a great bunch of fellas they were, heard some great stories too especially from Merson & Parlour. Sansom was a real gent, as were all the others. Blackmore had come down from Manchester for the day and was disappointed when he knew wasn't going to play on main pitch. In fact he remarked to me for a non league club the pitch looked in very good condition.
