Board of Directors

Given this recent episode with the fines, the amount of postponed games last year, the loss of good players and the below average performances,is there is still confidence in the Directors and the manager?

Personally I'm thinking that Staines is just down the road and appear to be providing better value for money.

I'd set up a poll, but I really can't be bothered.

Well, looking at those one by one...

Fines: *someone's* at fault but I can't see how either the manager or any directors would know (nor especially care) about a youth team disciplinary fine payment status... & as per my last post if they notify the chairman at zero notice and wouldn't let him pay it off there's clearly another agenda at work.

Postponed games: that would be the waterlogged pitch. Sure, in hindsight they should have sorted out the drainage and then the watering, not the other way round... but two years back drainage was the least of our problems, any less water on the pitch and we'd have been dodging camels. It was a complete pain, a pitch in a flood meadow underlain with clay is vulnerable, and maybe it might have been sorted faster, but remember last autumn was the wettest in history.

Loss of good players: who, exactly?

This year, I do blame Simon for Coyne's leaving (I understand why, sure, but he was so well worth keeping as we saw when we came on for Marlow). I regret losing Ricci but after that brilliant start last year he hadn't been at all great for us for a while; while Roche just never really settled.

Last year - Tilbs went, but he hadn't been getting in the side so often, the Edge was a loss but he was never going to stay, Tanners had a few good games but not many - same for Shimmer - and with all due respect for Ursell the ~15 minutes I saw of him actually playing for us didn't really stick in my mind.

That's not really that good many players to lose, at this level; and I'd rather keep Casey, Willo, Chenns, Seeds, Benny, Liam, plus both O'Connors, Will, Ryan, Coops... etc etc. As I've said before, whatever you think of Simon's management you can't fault his ability to get (very) good players at our level.

Below average performances: that I will grant you. Given the names above I figure we have the individual and collective skill - and effort - to be top 3, comfortably. But we're not seeing good teamwork there: high balls are no good when Ben's one of the taller forwards, we don't pass to feet - or if we do not to the red'n'green ones - and too often we're slow on the ball and far too slow to anticipate off it. Plus our set pieces suck, apart from a few corners.

I don't quite understand how you could even consider switching allegiance like that... if you move across country, that's one thing, but once you start with your local team you stick with it. Otherwise you might as well join the Chelsea bandwagon because they've got the richest patron.

Plus, we all know nothing good ever came out of Staines except the A30.

And the A30 ain't that good a road!

Can't believe that you are blaming the directors/manager for this. Not their fault but something on the website saying the game was called off would be nice!

Still can't believe we had a game called off for £24!

Is it worth sticking the prices up to pay for it.

Staines may be in a higher league playing football but you've missed out one major detail...

It's in Staines!

And how you can knock the Directors who've done a fantastic job is beyond me. We are VERY lucky to have people like Peter Simpson!

woody have you got a thing about windsor somehow being a superior place to live in, windsor and staines, potato potarto.
taken from the crap towns of britain book
the big thing about windsor is that its townfolk believe that by living near the castle they are more or less royalty themselves.lesser mortals cant help feeling that they have been ripped off.

When people start to critise the directors and management of the club, they tend to have very short memories. yes OK, the latest farce is embarrasing and I'm sure the directors would rather have avoided it completely. But don't forget at this level of football and for windsor particularly we are lucky to have the directors we do, who have the best interests of the club at heart and who without, there is a strong possibilty that there would be no club. We don't have strong support (in numbers!!) and it is people like this who keep pushing the club onwards.

Just look at slough if you want to see what poor club management looks like !!!!

Dansilk - I have to stand up for Staines (or for the posh ones here St Annes on Thames) there have been many fine things to come out of Staines as listed below:

The A30

Ali G

Hard Fi

Bobby Darov

Lino

OK, so Lino is the only good thing to come out of Staines.

I have to agree with the point about changing clubs, that once you are with one club you should stick with it through thick and thin, it would be like asking windsor fans to come and support Slough or vice versa, (however woody has been seen at a few Slough games! we were even going to buy him a shirt) it would make that person a traitor to the club.
