Harry - 25,000 'fans' are expecting to be able to watch EVERY game live on the interweb so they can pick the team! Do you really think they care about what day its on?

Yes we play New England that day, I want to watch the the very first game where a team scores over 100 points in one match.

Patrtiots have won all their games this season, including Monday night which was described to me by a friend as the best game he'd ever seen, while the Dolphins have currently lost all their games this season, including the game on Sunday where we conceaded 40 to New York Jets.

If it is possible to bet on the game, and it may not be, then I'll bet £1,000 on the Pats to win. I'll probably win about a tenner.

I'm a little clearer on what you're saying Pat, I got a bit confused. The MyFC lot won't get to bet on this so I was really saying that I don't want that evil Paul Parker to switch our game to the Sunday just so he can talk about Luke Moore "who we have on loan from Aston Villa". But as I said they mentioned that a game will be televised on the Saturday but no mention of a televised Sunday match, what reason would they have to switch a match to the Sunday except for TV?

I really think we have a decent chance of being the Saturday TV game though, which I would also hate by the way. I should be running football. Who'll vote for me?

Anyone from MyFC care to answer?
Bearing in mind now, that the combined multi-millions that Sky and Setanta throw into the game can't get a 3pm kick-off onto the screen...

It sure seems a great way to get fewer people through the turnstiles on a wet windy day, instead of more.
Of course if it is for their members only, then they won't have to travel to Stonebridge at all!

Do I expect it? No. Would I hope for it? Of course. I know nothing about the technology requirements or the rules on television coverage and air rights, so I'm answering purely from a personal standpoint.

Pat - at the moment plans are being put in place to stream the games live. Discussions have taken place with a number of different companies and advice sought in relation to any contractual problems. From my understanding Setanta have the rights to live coverage on TV but not the internet.

The cost for doing this is quite high apparently - in the region of £20,000 per game. So it would only be feasible if enough members of MyFC sign up and agree to pay a fee to get the live feed and/or sufficient advertising on the feed raised enough to cover at least some of the cost. Personally I have my doubts that it will be financially viable as the cost would have to be borne directly by the members as none of the funds from current fees could be used.

Either way - there will have to be delayed coverage of each game in some format - hiring time on a satellite channel (my preference) - p2p or some other way (all of which would cost substantially less i.e. in the hundreds of pounds). I would be a nonsense to suggest that the membership of MyFC could pick the team without at least seeing the previous week's game.

Basically then, live games are a non-starter? At £20k per game multiplied by 46 games in the League, you are already way over the sum raised so far to join - before you add on cup games (fortunately, Fleet dont seem to hang around in cups for too long recently).
Am sure the opposition will also want some kind of payment, after all its them on telly as well!

I like the idea of selling advertising.. but the limited numbers of viewers will make this unattractive or economical.

Would not hiring satellite time enable everyone to watch the games? But your last point is the most valid - unless the members have had time and opportunity to watch the game, asking for their input on selection is a waste of time

If 5,000 members agree to pay £5 per game it would work. But like I said I would be surprised if that number agreed. Many MyFC members will be going to other games on a Saturday - so I think it would be almost completely dependant on overseas members to fund it. And to be honest I don't really see the point. This is one of the issues that I disagree with Will Brooks on but if he can get enough people to sign-up then let it run - but I don't think I will be one of them. I would much prefer to use my money to get to Stonebridge Road three or four times a season.

Quite possibly - and I don't know the story with that one.

I would actually disagree with you here - a potential 25,000 members would prove very attractive for many companies - e.g. sports companies would have a captive audience. In the same way that the involvement of MyFC could generate significantly extra income for EUFC from sponsorship and advertising of various sorts - companies will see it as a market of 25,000 not 1,000. If sufficient funds are raised from advertising to stream the games for free or maybe £1 a game - then it would be a different story.

Anybody who has access to satellite - yes. And hiring a couple of hours to show a delayed broadcast would only cost a few hundred per game - an amount that could be comfortably by advertising.

Yes - so some mechanism or series of mechanisms have to be put in place to ensure this - and I believe the full game is necessary and not highlights.

But its not 5,000 paying £5... Its 5,000 paying £5 multiplied by every game.
This kind of thing could not work on a week-by-week basis. It would have to be the whole season, or not at all. Otherwise, the bigger games would have enough payment, but smaller games (KSC, Setanta Shield for example) - who would pay for them?
And if Will can't convince members as optimistic as you to shell out, he has no chance with some of the others!
