Actions speaking louder than words?

Recommended Posts

Taken from the MyFC forum. (AFF & UU get your wild garlic & crucifixes out - this was posted by Will Brooks:)

"Following the success of the new balls and goals appeal, a few members have suggested we do something similar and purchase a fertilizer distributor for groundsman Peter Norton...."

Some people might suggest that we could save money here & get some of the posters on this forum, who usually talk total sh*t, to save it up & go together down to the San Stonebridge, where Peter could line them up in formation to do the job - much more efficiently than what is apparently the current process:

" ... in the meantime, Peter is getting Club Secretary Roly to walk up and down the pitch and sprinkle the fertilizer manually. It’s good exercise for him apparently."

I am more than happy to "do my bit" if the general consensus is that I qualify for the role.

Start proceedings to buy into football club at the request of current owners. If it goes through, pay enough money into said club to wipe out their potentially unsustainable debts.

B*stards

Show enough interest in club to go onto their forum to discuss the team and find out about any burning issues

B*stards

Don’t go to see team, but want to know as much about them as possible

B*stards

Do go to see the team – “What are you doing coming over here watching my team – I’m a local person mate”

B*stards

Raise cash for training equipment (well, it was only a few people paying a small amount of cash – I’m sure we could have done it if we’d wanted to)

B*stards

Discuss raising money to help the fantastic groundsman do an even better job

B*stards

Refer to club as ‘you’ (“what do you mean ‘you’? Aren’t you supposed to be fans?”)

B*stards

Refer to club as ‘we’ (“what do you mean ‘we’? This is my team – I’m a local person mate”)

B*stards

Christ on a bike – aren’t people getting bored with finding the negative in everybloodything? I am sure that we all have reservations over some of the things that are going on. And I will defend the right of anyone that wishes to debate those reservations ad nauseum if necessary. But to belittle the recent donations just because they were made by people that you don’t want to associate with is really churlish.

Oh, and is there any way that an automatic response can be set up so that all of Uncle Urchin’s post are immediately followed with the word YAWN? This would save a lot of time and would be a very valid editorial

all very well meaning I am sure UG but of course there are many people all over the country that hand money over to NLFC's each week for such necessaries but they choose NOT to post it all over public forums....when we find out that Mr Brooks has put his hand in his own pocket for ebsfleet and not posted it on a forum for the adoring masses to worship..then I may...just may.... think to myself...well done son...

A very good post Gaspode. However, wouldn't it be boring if everyone had the same opinion on every topic ?

Wouldn't be much point in posting anything but "news" items, which can usually be found on the Official Website anyway.

Keep on rockin' in the free ( speech) world....while it lasts !!

Cheers,

Absolutely Hirsty, totally agree

All I was getting at is that everything that is done by MYFC or any of its members is subject to derision, ridicule and ire. Somtimes things are done that deserve a little credit.

They have found some funds for things that we require and most of us have been quietly pleased that they did.

Some, however, have called into question their reasons and have taken them to task for advertising their donations. If they had made these donations without any publicity I suspect that these same people would have asked "What are they actually doing for us?"

Oh - and UU - YAWN

Too true Hirsty. Only it's also boring if the same persons have one opinion on the same topic ad nauseam.

Free speech is all very well. I just like my free speech varied from time to time... grin

In a large membership, somebody is always going to post that this or that has beem done. What would happen if something wasnt posted and it was found out a week later by someboby ?, MYFC being secretive .

Actions will speak louder than words, and I know some of you will only give it a bit of credit in the very long run if success is achieved. I think you are quite right, its easy to say we are going to do this, we are going to do that, its when things happen or dont happen, thats when to judge.

I know many of you on here are members, and that is great, so when you refer to MYFC, you are now referring to yourselves aswell, as you are just as much a member as I am .

Personally I think you would be far more likely to accuse him of a cheap publicity stunt

I think the reason that some posters here 'bit' on that one was simple > The idea was a MyFC idea, the money was MyFC money. It could just have been kept to MyFC forums, couldn't it? Surely it was posted here to get a reaction (isn't that why we all post?)

Actually Pat - some people post to ask questions and some people post to provide information. Some people post to give an opinion and some people post purely to provoke a reaction.

As it happened, I opened this link as a bit of a laugh. I am an MyFC member, or I wouldn't have been able to read Will Brooks' article, & I joined not to keep an eye or make mischief, but because I hope the scheme will be the making of the Club I have supported since I was a teenager back in the early 70s.

No laughing after today's game though - thought we deserved a point on our 2nd half performance. If I could have got near that poncey pillock of a linesman who disallowed our equalizer I'd have put Vlad the Impaler to shame. (Mind you his decision might have been correct - but how against natural justice was it?)

I thought we got what we deserved - nothing.

For 78 minutes we werre appalling.

Almost every ball we played was passed to the main stand side of the ground, then long floated crosses were pumped in against the wind, meat and drink for the 3 centre halves.

York played it to the road side, fired in low hard crosses that defenders find so difficult to deal with.

It is called "using the conditions".

As always we looked lightweight and shotshy up front, George put a lot of good work in, but I'm yet to be convinced he is the 20 goal a season striker we are crying out for.

Nade was, well, Nade. Wrong positoning, poor jumping, and appeared to lack desire. He is starting to look out of his depth at this level against experienced defenders.

My biggest gripe is with the midfield. 3 out of 4 looked to be playing in the wrong position!!

Purcell should be left wing, Stacey and Coleman should start in the centre and McPhee on the right.

Play Moore and Akinde up front.

What WAS LD doing with his substitutions???

Why bring on a defensive midfielder for another defensive midfielder (who is a better centre half) when we were crying out for more attacking options, being 0-2 down.

Then he brought on another midfielder for a full back!!

Finally, he did his 87th minute trick by bringing on Akinde much as he did with Sodje last year.

Frankly, that is management by numbers, it didn't work last year, and it doesn't work this year.

LD needs to use a little imagination and guile to break down solid defences. This was management going through the motions.

If this continues, MyFC will soon get fed up with this and look for a replacement.
