City 2 Sutton 1

GHA EFM

Good win, 1-0 down in the first half after Palmer smashed home the rebound (19 minutes) after a Watson header hit the post, we didn't play too well, Martin hit the bar with a header. Second half we were much stronger, the better of the two sides, 47 minutes we won a corner, cleared out, ball played forward, Martin toe-poked the ball past his man, had time to look up, delivered an inch-perfect cross for Derek Brown to send a bullet-like diving header into the top corner of the net. We were still the better of the two, and a Martin header was cleared off the line. 6 minutes from the end, a Lodge corner was met by Brown whose header went over the Sutton defender on the line and into the back of the net. City hung on to win. Deserved win, based on the second half performance.

Rezzies won 2-1 after being a goal down. Seeby scored 1, and Bullett (I forget his real name) scored the winner in the 90th minute.

Both the boys in green and England won their respective 6 nations matches today. Craig Mackail-Smith's back from Arlesey, having scored 3 times, and he and Greg Deacon are now battling over who has sat on the most Ryman League benches. An analysis of said benches will be in the forthcoming fanzine, the work being a collaboration of both Greg and Craig. Apparently. Don't quote me on that.

Fred Miniken was away today, and so Colin Toms' credentials as a PA man were ignored in favour of Ian Rogers, who, to be fair, didn't do that bad a job. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

The referee was poor.

EFM were in fine voice again today. Herts. Ad took a picture or two in the bar before the game, to promote the Canvey Drinking EFM Fundraiser, and on the terraces there was a fair bit of sing-song. As usual, the players applauded the crowd behind the goal (although rumours that this applause was aimed mainly at EFM due to the singing have yet to be denied).

Ryan Moran did not play as he has a chest infection, but he has been wished well and should return for the game next Saturday.

Apparently, there's a war going on in Iran or somewhere, but that's news to me.

Safe.
