MyFC in talks with major kit manufacturer

Santa

Recommended Posts

Some dickhead member posted on the MyFC site about exchanging shirts of teams 'you no longer support'. He got both barrels.

A lot of this seems to be change for changes sake.

Agree with your earlier comment Chris. We have had enough kits recently.

Understandable with sponsorship changes but seeing as we have a three year deal with Eurostar (which apparently isn't good enough according to the directors), I see no need to change it.

It's quite nice as well.

However, if we were to change it, can we go with Adidas and have the Benfica kit as that is the same colourscheme and rocks! :-)

Do a survey on your forum and ask who wants to buy their third Fleet shirt in 5 seasons or their forth, or their fifth even? Let them decide, and anyone who hasn't bought several shouldn't even be consulted.

At this point, I don't see any difference between us being taken over by some foreign billionaire or a consortium of faceless people who have never and will mostly never even attend a game.

Be optimistic - let's see how this issue of the kit and all others pan out of the next few weeks. No-one is asking anyone to buy a lot of jerseys. There aren't any proposals at the moment and all we know is that a company has made contact and told to come back with a proposal.

By the way - would you confine the vote to people who own four - or - five - or more and would they ahve to produce receipts to prove they bought them (sorry being a bit sarcastic here but it's late and I couldn't help it).

From what I have heard it seems like an excellent deal.

Certainly could be a lot worse - and the Eurostar logo isn't too big.

There you go - the man is looking on the bright side.

I preferred the away kit that year. The blue and white stripes where some of the shirts had 'bluer' stripes than others (particularly those that had grey stripes) and some of the others had different diameter stripes?

Dunno, whilst I think about it go to the kitchen and get a great big glass of go f**k yourself

Sorry about the sarcasm there, but it's late and I couldn't help it.

I dunno, after all of this talk at the beginning of a myfc doctrine of not wanting to upset the poor locals, I'm starting to feel like you'd rather we all weren't here. Upset us until we all leave, then the twelve new members that go to matches can decide on everything

Blimey. I'm in agreement with a Hornchurcher.

That comment about ignoring people totally defeated the object of the MyFC ideal.

I wonder what will be in the news of Pravda tomorrow...

Chris, I want a glass of what you're having.

Stu M - I propose a vote to bring back tight shorts in the style of Paul Lamb*

That comment was meant to be funny, not gay.

Chris - It can get a bit tiring repeatedly trying to explain things over and over - particularly when some people only read what they want to read and then jump to all kinds of conclusions.

I want more local people going to EUFC games and becoming fans of the club. I want every single EUFC fan to join MyFC and have as big an influence as possible on what it does and how it does it. Some people on here seem to think that it will be EUFC fans V MyFC members - but MyFC members disagree about stuff just as much as the people on this forum. No-one involved in MyFC (apart from a couple of head-bangers that appeared on here three weeks ago) wants anything other than operate in the best interests of the club. I acknowledge that there are some people on this forum who are utterly, totally and completely opposed to the idea. This was/is bound to happen. Nothing you, I, Will Brooks, Brian Kilcullen or anyone else can do about it. It is likely that no matter how successful MyFC was at helping to develop the club some of these attitudes wouldn't change.

However, a process between EUFC and MyFC is underway. I fully support it. Many EUFC fans support it (with varying degrees of enthusiasm). I don't know if it will be a success or not. What I do know is that, if it fails (and I don't expect it to), EUFC will not be in any worse off a position than it is at the moment. In fact financially it will be better, and there will be a few new, long-term committed fans who don't support any other club (like me) who will still be around after.

EUFC does not exist in a vacuum. The entire locality is undergoing significant change whether for the better or not. Similarly football is changing and one aspect of this change is the potential impact MyFC can have in how football is run. Is it an experiment - absolutely - but it has the indications of being a successful one.

I am an optimist by nature. I have confidence that ordinary people (including ordinary football fans) know how to do a better job at running things than anyone higher up the food chain telling them how to do it. This is why I believe it will work. And it could create a progressing developing and vibrant football club in Gravesend and Northfleet.

sorry for the waffle - like I said it's late.

Santa - you really are getting ahead of yourself here. There has been no decision to do anything. All that has happened is that a kit manufacturer has called up MyFC and asked 'what's the story' and has been told to come back with a proposal. When the deal to purchase EUFC by MyFC is done and dusted the proposal will be published (we may even have more than one at that stage) everyone will have an opportunity to discuss it and a decision will be made. I have indicated to 'PatMan' two ways of influencing this decision. You and everyone else on here can make you views known - and even if you choose not to get involved with MyFC or ST (if you are not already) I, or some other member of MyFC, would be happy to communicate your views to the MyFC forum. As I asked earlier - when have you ever been consulted about the kit change in the past? When this current proposal is published you will have an opportunity to have an influence on the decision. It's up to you whether to choose to take it.

I dont really care about being consulted about the kit change, I am happy to trust the people at the club to take care of this sort of thing. What I do care about is if these people (and the fans) have been marginalised in the discussion as to whether a new manufacturer is required or not. If they have been involved and have agreed the need I'll hold my hands up and shut up.

Loving the fact that you are telling me about where I live and the football team I go and watch.

What's next? The Daws, The Bowling Alley, the trains?

Here's an idea, you could do MyTrainline.com and buy South Eastern. You paint the trains green and have people giving out sweets in the toilets that don't work.

Some of you guys really do need to get a sense of humour giveup

In a very warped way, I find most things about MyFC absolutely hilarious.

So say for some reason, the whole deal fell through, would you still be a Fleet fan then? Or would you go follow the next team?

I hope you're right. Contrary to what you may think, now it's all been announced I'm for the takeover. I'd have rather it happened to someone else, but it didn't and I think it'd be awful for the club if it fell through now and I don't just mean in a monetary sense.

I'm still yet to be convinced however, that anyone involved with myfc has the best interest of the supporters or the club at heart and wasn't that the whole idea?
