Todays Game

Come on start being truthful, EVANS had a nightmare of a game. I agree with the earlier post that stated that he was one for the future, but for now he is still learning.

And i am fed up with having to moan all the time about the poor standard of the so called referee's. Some of those totally schoolboy decisions were pathetic. Bring back that indian referee who in my opinion has been by far the best referee i have seen.

Agreed, of the front two we started today he looked by far the most dangerous.

Perhaps he should start alongside Liam and try to feed off of his headers.

Once he gets his opening goal for the first team there will be no stopping him.

Agreed louie has great talent and can play better,we have no options at the moment goals are coming mainly from our midfield, we need to give players like him the chance to prove what he can do.How many goals has Liam scored?I think louie needs to play of a target man that way he can get in behind defences, all credit to Andy for giving the guy his chance, he obviously feels louie can do the job.

I've said it before, but although Louis is still unproven at this level, he does bust a gut, have fire in his belly, call it what you will. Che and louis ran their defence ragged today. He also seems to be forging quite a nice understanding with Che. Some of the little lay offs to each other were defence splitting. If only we could put them away. The midfield looked superb, even our back 4 looked sharp after we went 1 down. Thought the Duke and Nick got stuck in where it hurt. Great performace all round today, I expect there will be a queue for the physio table on Monday !!!!!

Perhaps they are starting to realise that THEIR team has over-achieved.

'it's a long way to come just to lose.....'

Can we stop moaning about certain players and bask in the glory of victory please?

(PS - When I moan, it's when we have lost!)

Yes, but by doing this you leave out Che, the man who is our top scorer this season by a reasonable distance. Sorry, but however well Louie can do in his lay-offs and hold-up play, the main thing a striker needs is the ability to put away good chances, and he simply failed to do that today on two very obvious occasions. I have to admit that I was bemused as to why Andy brought off Che and not Louie for Liam. I'm sure that he can come good with time, but today's performance by him was disappointing.

Anyway, perhaps I shouldn't moan, for today's result was excellent against a Morecambe side who were very quick on the counter-attack, particularly considering the fact that we were 2-1 down. Bentley (my MOTM yet again grin.gif) netted yet another fine goal, and the whole team worked really hard. Fridge looks to be getting back into the swing of things as usual, and Macca was impressive again - great to see the pair of them back. smile.gif I was also delighted to see Rob Owen in the side too, at the expense of Ben White, who has been disappointing in my view.

Another nerve-wracking finish to the match, but a second late goal in two weeks was simply sensational. I never saw us as a side that was good at comebacks, but we have certainly disproved that recently. And surely only Tostao could conjure up a finish as cheeky as that! smile.gif

22 or 24 clubs in the Conference next season? As long as we keep picking up the points, what does it matter? grin.gif

I have to say, that without a doubt, today was my favourite match of the season.

Lovely weather, great atmosphere, and a win against a team that many didn't think we had a hope in hell of beating (when my friend was talking to another Fleet supporter before the match, the guy predicted a 5-0 loss for us!).

Heart stopping it may have been, excrutiating at times, but the boys did the job and pulled out all the stops to get the win. Big cheers for all of them.

We're well on the way to securing our conference place and I have great hopes for a top 10 place next season

Great, great day

Excellant result yesterday, against one of the in form teams in the league.

Some great plus points apart from the 3 points :

Macca looking much fitter ( big improvement from last week)

Great spirit displayed by coming back from being behind twice.

Good atmosphere in the covered end, for majority of the game

Tos' superb cameo appearance, (I think that their left back is still spinning )

Our midfield holding its own , against possibly the best midfield in the division.

Che still looking sharp.

The not so good points were :

poor attendance again

Skins and Nicky Burton, being routinely turned over in the first half.

Louie Evans.

Keep up the good work , we are well on the way to survival regardless of any last minute rule changes..

Was a Gr8 game yesterday, my second best game of season behind scarboro (5-2). Wilko was absolutely fantastic again, lovett made a good solid debut, duku was good, burton was alright, skinner was alright, jacko was good, mackers done well, owen was gr8, benno was fantastic, tostao was fantastic, evans was alright, stadhart was gr8 (why we take him off?), hatch was ok. *sigh* Perhaps I shud start a rating system? lol

I really hope that evans makes it one day, but he isn't gonna make the grade. I have watched him a few times and that is why i have come to my decision. I can only think that super daz has the same eye complaint as yesterday's referee. lol!!

That is your opinion but I beg to differ.
Besides - the TEAM won. Not Bentley won or Kwashi won, but THE TEAM.
My point being that we support the team, Andy and the team selections that go with that.

Evans will come good - and will prove to be a better player than a certain other over-rated accident prone forward.

Unleash the beast? A phrase based on how he 'gets stuck in'.
I'd prefer it if he actually stuck the ball in the net.

What a great game!!!

Great Atmosphere, and a great performance. I think we must give some credit to the morecambe fans, as I think there singing really got us going.

I thought our midfield was emmense today and after a shaky start the defence found there feet.

I must have been watching a different game to a few people though, as I though Evans had quite a good game, getting into some good positions and running his heart out. Just a shame he didn't have the finishing to match. I am sure though, as soon as he gets some confidence, he will be banging them in regulary.

What is the point of complaining about Liam not sticking the ball in the net when a certain other short, lightweight, goalless centre forward who gets played more often fails to do the same thing? mad.gif

Enjoyed the game, once again the heart was put under pressure, great to see fans staying until the end you never know what you will miss the players deserved that applause at the end, some good points today, good debut from Lovett, Macca and Duku getting better every game, Owen getting a game he deserves it, thought Louie played well, he should have scored first half but i believe it will come, the most impressive thing today was we did not concede just after the break and we did not let our heads drop, great result, great results around us as well, keep it going, a massive game next week everyone make sure you are there.
