Thats not the impression High Priest Will Brooks gave in his article. It led me to believe that it was his observation at training that led to the whip round.

What was his rake-off for arranging the whip round, after all arranging a whip-round costs money don't you know?

It certainly does in the clubs you visit. chloe chloenurse

What happened to the Wisdom of the (rest of the)Crowd?

Well done, and thank you, to the sensible members!

Missing a trick on the old loonie moonie front here AFF. What if some donated more than £5 ?....there would be even fewer true fans......or just maybe the majority have a life outside these forums and didnt log on for the 6 hours it took to raise the money ?

I did consider the facts, if some people gave more than a Fiver, then there are less true fans out there, and that is even more scary!
As to the six hour time limit...........That was the time to raise the money............Not the time to discuss the project!

This was a request for donations to reach a specific sum for a balls & posts. Once the target was reached MyFc members were unable to donate any further money to this particular request. It could have 1 donation or 100...who cares?

You seem to care, or why are you going on about it so much..........I posted at least twice....Well done the people who donated, but you seem to ignore that fact!

At least he was there to see the training session, wasn't he ?

I see the Ebbsfleet Wikipedia page (which is probably being contributed to by God knows who these days) neglects to mention Maidstone as traditional rivals and instead has the two-season wonders Margate and Canvey as 'traditional' rivals.

Yes, I am surprised that you have heard of them in Yorkshire.

I heard of the place, but not the team.

Gravend & Northfleet I know a small bit about as a guy once wrote to me when I was living still in Leicester and said that Gravesend's centre half should join the City !.

It would be about 1983 ish ? any idea who it was, what happened to him ?

To be honest Emily - you could read that into both posts if you wanted to. I do not agree that this is the case - both post contained the facts of the donation and expressed the opinion that it was a decent gesture. The original post wasn't made by Will Brooks or any member of the forum team.

Did anyone suggest that it did? Indeed the only posts from an EUFC that I will take issue with are those from one individual who has made some rather slanderous personal comments about me.

The gesture was a decent one and the original post did nothing other than outline what had happened and expressed the opinion that it was decent.

This is exactly the type of thing that annoys me about our new members. If you read anything that I've posted recently it's not been particularly negative. But the one time I have a negative opinion you feel the need to quote my post and reply to each individual point.

My initial reaction when I read the post was that there was an element of "look what we've done". At no point in my post did I mention Will Brooks or the forum members. You did that.

There are plenty of comments on this forum saying people's opinions are "worthless" because you don't agree. We don't all have to agree on things, but no one has the right to say someone else's opinion is any less valid.

If you can't see that some people are still opposed to the takeover and don't need their noses rubbed in it then you're even more deluded than you seem.

I even voted in favour of supporting the takeover proposal at the trust meeting!! This is my opinion and I care much more for the opinions of people on here who come to the game each week than if I've offended you.

Pick apart as you like, it seems you have nothing better to do with your time and you've already proved you're lacking in a sense of humour.

I certainly did not post in order to gloat but if you wish to put that interpretation on it then so be it.

I also stand by my comment of a 'worthless' post as in my opinion it was worthless to try and ridicule what I believe is a worthwhile & generous gesture. Being a regular and local supporter does not exempt you from making a worthless post.....

As for trying to endear myself to to local supporters you are way off the mark. If I have an opinion I wish to post on an open forum then I will do so regardless whether or not it may endear me to certain persons.

Finally there are plenty of threads that could be started in a better way but people have different levels of skills, tact and diplomacy......

ps are you a school teacher by any chance as I feel I did not do too well

People are feeling unsettled at the moment. Most people don't like change and we're going through a big change at the moment. I accept your intentions were good but I wasn't the only one to read your post the way I did, it's just my opinion.

I've supported the Fleet for over 15 years and we need any help we can get, but the MFC idea is a unique one that not everyone is happy about.

By all means post anything you like on here, it is indeed an open forum but I would have thought the new MFC members would want honest opinions from the local supporters.

Now you've replied I'm happy to accept your intentions were good but the way some other people are getting out of their prams because people have an opinion just adds to the whole brainwashing conspiracy theory.

Marks out of ten for your post - 6 grin

And the points you have made are acknowledged and accepted.

Any MyFC member worth his/her salt knows this is a big leap into the unknown and that the existing EUFC fans are more afriad than anyone else of the potential outcome. In this situation many people look at the worse case scenario (many MyFC members look at the best case scenario). The reality will be somewhere in-between.

Personally, I am confident that this will work. I believe that genuine football fans (who comprise the vast majority of the MyFC membership) will only work on the basis of what is best for the club. As things develop I believe that existing fans will recognise the benefits that MyFC can bring to the club and hopefully we (MyFC memebrs and existing EUFC fans) can minimise any negatives (if there are any). Time will tell how effective it will be and how.

Some excellent posts from Emily here - it really shouldn't be too hard to understand that stalwart Fleet supporters may find a sudden participation in Club affairs by thousands of individuals who have hitherto had no connection whatsoever to, and indeed have no local affinity with, the Club (begging the question what will attract and ally them to the Club should most elements of 'fan control' prove illusory as many suspect) somewhat unsettling and alienating.

Indeed, in these traumatic times my main source of comfort is the fact that attending matches so far, aside from the handful of new faces on the terraces, hasn't felt all that different from before, and I'm clinging on to the hope that it'll stay that way.
