training balls & posts

I agree an excellent gesture but one that would have been even better if it had been done without the need to tell everyone about it. It may not have been the intention, but the original couple of posts could be read with an element of gloating about them!

I'm more than happy to accept that any donation in whatever form is good for the club but it might be wise to remember that not everyone is happy about the proposed takeover and it doesn't mean their comments are "worthless" as rubbishing regular and local supporters will not endear you to them!

Many people contribute to the club in various ways and this idea is a fantastic one, as is the request for more information on what can be done. Just think we need to accept there are some pessimists still about the whole takeover thing and the way in which this thread was started could maybe have been done a bit better smile

And you are posting this here just to gloat!

(UU and AFF would be so proud!)

Minimum donation was £5 wink

If my rudimentary maths are right, 1300 divided by 5 = 260.
So only 260 people out of 25,000 people donated a Fiver each!
A very large Minority(the reals Football fans)donated.
What happened to the Wisdom of the (rest of the)Crowd?

Well done, and thank you, to the sensible members!

I agree to an extent but the important thing here was that it was highlighted. Did the club ever say we need new training equipment. If they did I didn't see it. This was spotted on a visit, highlighted and actioned in the space of 3 weeks.

I think that we have got to a stage that whatever our new fans post there are going to be some that will shoot them down no matter how it is expressed. Thats their choice.

Missing a trick on the old loonie moonie front here AFF. What if some donated more than £5 ?....there would be even fewer true fans......or just maybe the majority have a life outside these forums and didnt log on for the 6 hours it took to raise the money ?

I did consider the facts, if some people gave more than a Fiver, then there are less true fans out there, and that is even more scary!
As to the six hour time limit...........That was the time to raise the money............Not the time to discuss the project!

I would liked to think that Liam had indicated to MyFC the need rather than MyFC deciding independantly what was needed.

Nonetheless a great effort and gesture on their part which I'm sure will be appreciated (also a 'thank-you' apparently for the access MyFC have had to Liam, staff and the team over the past weeks - which is nice).

I just hope the portable posts can be safely locked away or else they may find them a little more portable than had been intended.

Thats not the impression High Priest Will Brooks gave in his article. It led me to believe that it was his observation at training that led to the whip round.

To be honest Emily - you could read that into both posts if you wanted to. I do not agree that this is the case - both post contained the facts of the donation and expressed the opinion that it was a decent gesture. The original post wasn't made by Will Brooks or any member of the forum team.

Did anyone suggest that it did? Indeed the only posts from an EUFC that I will take issue with are those from one individual who has made some rather slanderous personal comments about me.

The gesture was a decent one and the original post did nothing other than outline what had happened and expressed the opinion that it was decent.

Emily,

What is the point of having a forum if its not to discuss what is going on at the club? I felt the donation of training equipment was sufficiently newsworthy to be of discussion and perhaps gauge a feedback from local supporters.

I certainly did not post in order to gloat but if you wish to put that interpretation on it then so be it.

I also stand by my comment of a 'worthless' post as in my opinion it was worthless to try and ridicule what I believe is a worthwhile & generous gesture. Being a regular and local supporter does not exempt you from making a worthless post.....

As for trying to endear myself to to local supporters you are way off the mark. If I have an opinion I wish to post on an open forum then I will do so regardless whether or not it may endear me to certain persons.

Finally there are plenty of threads that could be started in a better way but people have different levels of skills, tact and diplomacy......

ps are you a school teacher by any chance as I feel I did not do too well

gagged

This was a request for donations to reach a specific sum for a balls & posts. Once the target was reached MyFc members were unable to donate any further money to this particular request. It could have 1 donation or 100...who cares?

Certainly doesn't. Most of my posts are worthless.

Loving the whip idea for Charlie and the Beast Slarti.
Koresh probably wouldn't know them anyway.

It brought such a lump to my throat................I nearly remembered the combination to my wallet, and threw my 1p in!

These are obviously the people that come in the first part of my signature...Well done the few!

I would have thrown in the 1p that I've just found on the High Street in Gravesend....but I'm not and will not have anything to do with the MyFC farce so I guess I'll just stick it in my pocket!

What was his rake-off for arranging the whip round, after all arranging a whip-round costs money don't you know?
