Bad news/Good news?

According to the Thanet Times this morning we could find ourselves relieved of Ryan Peters. Steve McKimm said loan players are normally called back when there's a change of manager and Bees boss Terry Butcher has found himself under pressure. If Ryan is called back if and when there is a change of manager Blues have a ready-made replacement in former Maidstone ace Roberto Corbishley who joined us at the weekend. McKimm said: 'He trained with us before but did his metatarsal in the warm-up. He's a solid player from what I gather he can play full-back and the gaffer's signed him because he thinks he can do a job'.

Solves the problem of the mystery player warming up with the substitutes on Saturday.

This raises the question: if Ryan doesn't get called back, will Corbishley play at full back and leave Ryan to return to his natural position?

I take that as good news.

Hopefully we can keep Ryan, if not we have Roberto, if we can keep them both then Brilliant

Although I am not happy with the standard of football I still cant believe we are so high in the league, I know we have played more games than most but if we start to turn our game on you never know

Looking at first report appears to have had a good game with the report stating that they can't believe he has only played Brithih University standard as looked accomplished.

Thanks for the info AB. SCS's dad mentioned Roberto to me a few months back at a home game & when I posted his name on here I got no response.

This injury explains why then,he hasn't been heard of or mentioned since.

Scots dad raves about this player & says he is an outstanding prospect. When fully fit,he may well turn out to be a similar player to Peters anyway. Who knows! We'll have to wait & see I suppose.

Having said that the loss of Ryan would still be a major blow to us,though we knew it was only temporary anyway. He's been a major player here.At least with him on the team sheet we already know how good he is.

Sounds promising.

Thats right back sorted then.

Am i reading it right that he has noe fully recovered from his injury.

Anyone know any more about Corbishly

Just centre half to go.

(are some players going to go out on loan-or be encouraged to leave- as it seems to me that even excluding Lovegrove and Peters, squad size is now 21 players.

With ref: to Pageys comments re:standard of football-i think the standard is ok.It is what it is-and thats Ryman standard-which is probably about same as Conf south.

I'm afraid the conference national standard of 4 years ago is long gone, but frankly i don't care if we are rubbish every week as long as the 'Gate win.

Lets win first, then worry about playing prettier.(i do appreciate others like things other way round but each to their own.)

We are beginning to be drip fed information on the main site which is encouraging, new players arriving, is it just me or do I detect that things are beginning to get better generaly. Hope I am right as I will be returning to live in Thanet in the first few months of the New Year and am hoping for blue skies over Hartsdown Park. As someone else says keep the faith !!

Just noticed the following post on the Ryman forum (initiated by that closet margate supporter-Ian Sanderson.

Sounds like Corbishley does have a bit of quality.

Love the maidstone verdict on our defence-coming to something when even supporters of other clubs comment on our defensive frailties and i read that Corbishley is a very attack minded right back -another forward then !!

Quality player. Came through our youth, went to uni, then came back for this pre-season. but for some bizarre reason we didn't keep him on. Despite him been one of our best players throughout. Actually we didn't keep in on as he would probably always be second choice behind Nathan Paul - who really should be at a higher level (who was unfit at the time).

Very attack minded / anywhere on the right type of player. Though I'd say could be iffy for Margate, as they need (well judging from when we visited) people who will actually defend. He's a very attack minded right back.

No doubt if RT does get his central defender ,he'll also be able to play centre forward and then we really can play with 10 outfield attacking players and try and win every game 7-6.I know i go on about the defence, but its only because one care's and as it stands, the defence is all a bit embarrassing-imagine where we could be in the league if we had just conceded 4 less goals even !!

Anyway, i hope Corbishley has a great career with MFC,continues to 'blossom', commands a future transfer fee of £50K,does well for RT and does not get too carried away with an attacking role.
