Browne's potential departure

Ian

Recommended Posts

Why would someone resign but stay on until the end of the season? How about this for a scenario.....

The fans have turned against him and he's concerned it will affect the chances of promotion if we are getting at the manager. So, he announces he's going to quit at the end of the season and immediately stops the abuse as the objective of him going will have been achieved.

This enables the players to focus fully on promotion (hopefully) and then at the end of the season he announces he's actually staying. This will of course have given him the added bonus of p*ssing us all off into the bargain.

Cynic or realist?

Hence the pessimism in the supporters with regard to his claim. I'll believe it when I see it and I also don't think the support will reach the heights it did when we played at Hemel, but I would love to be involved in an atmosphere like that at a Slough game again.

Ian, more likely, he announces he is going. We do not get promoted. We have a summer of uncertainty. Players leave. The club enters a league, somehow, at the last possible moment. First and only pre-season friendly is against a Hayes XI and Slough have a squad of thirty scrapped together, mixture of kids and those tempted by money and those mad enough to stay. And who will be at the helm......yes, the one and only Steve Browne.
