Witham v C*****

I was at the game. Glad you've jumped to a convenient conclusion that satisfies your obvious prejudices. (May have used a few too many big words there). Anyway without getting personal:) To put the record straight it was the Witham players who jumped over the barriers and were punching and kicking over and through the protective fence at the tunnel area. No matter WHAT is said from the terraces players at all levels should NEVER start attacking fans...they'd be a tad pissed off it was the other way round!!Read the threads on the canvey forum for a more in depth explanation of the goings on.

3 games abandoned? What is this some kind of pub league? Ridiculous.

Of course the most famous precedent of fans and players rucking was the Cantona-Simmons bout... On that occasion the FA (and the courts) threw the book at both parties. It takes two to tango and if C*nv*y can't control their supporters they deserve to be punished just as Witham do if they can't control their players.

For your information Canvey fans WERE under control until they were assaulted by the witham players - simple as that. Any reaction from the Canvey fans was in self defence and not used as an excuse to have a punch up. The fans from both sides calmed the situation down very quickly once the brawling Witham players finally decided to leave the field of play.

Yep and your in it with us.

1) Hate to point this out, but you're in a lower division than us. Can't think of any premier div games being called off due to players and fans fighting...
2) It's you're, not your.

Hmmm. 1st experience of btfc fans and they appear to be sucking on sour lemons (thats bitter btw). Your need for sarcasm is unfortunate especially as you WERE NOT THERE!!!! I was and you can rest assured that if i thought CIFC fans were out of order i would be saying so. We are losing sight of the fact that the guilty parties in this matter are a) the totally inadequate referee (and to a lesser degree his assistants) and B) the Witham players for attacking - yes ATTACKING - the canvey fans. Thats not withstanding the events on the pitch.

The referee is to blame for your players trading blows with the opposition?

From the local Witham paper:

Police called to football match trouble

By Nina Morgan

Police were called when a football match was abandoned and away fans began protesting.

The match starting at 3pm between Witham Town and Canvey Island in Spa Road, Witham, on December 1 was abandoned at half time and police were called at 4pm.

Police officers arrived to find Canvey Island fans protesting against the Witham Town FC officials because the referee had abandoned the match.

Tony Last, Witham Town FC chairman, said: "It's the first time it's ever happened at Witham.

"The police were called because there was crowd trouble.

"We're dealing with everything that went wrong."

Witham Town FC have sent a report to the FA and are waiting for the referee's report.

A Witham Town FC committee meeting will take place on December 3.

Mr Last had no further comments.

Police ensured that Canvey Island fans boarded coaches while Witham fans remained on the club's grounds.

No arrests were made.
