shootonsite - Uncle Urchin is not a supporter of EUFC - he is in fact a supporter of a different club who comes on here to stir the sh*t (and not just about MyFC).

Hi, This is my first post -

I am a MyFC member, albeit a humble, non-influential one.

I have viewed the various threads on this forum for a few weeks.

Don't know that I have an answers to many of the questions. I joined MyFC, because I objected to the over-commercialisation of football. To Fleet fans, would you rather Abramovich, Thai-boy (MCFC), The Glasiers or Rafa's US fellas?? Perhaps Ribsdale for a real laugh?? Instead you have 20,000 (ish) who, whatever happens, will not make any profit from your club, whilst contributing a decent sum. They will also have a real desire for this venture to be successful for all concerned.

In all liklihood, Daish's decisions will rule the roost, because the vast majority of MyFC members are not 'know it all anoraks'; they are football fans and realise that the experts are those in day-day contact with team, coaches etc.. I am sure that, unless things look really dire (e.g. Allardycesque), they will keep quiet about things like team selection, and will be happy to express their opinions in such a way that MyFC is simply a superior '606'. That is they will feel heard rather than feel frustrated by having to vent their spleen over the radio with absolutely no chance of anything changing.

I believe that this whole thing can work. I accept that I didn't know which team would be 'the one'. But, now knowing that it is Ebbsfleet am very happy, even though it is not easy for me to get to Stonebridge Road.

In reality, I will probably go to about 6 or 7 matches this season. I suspect only 2 or 3 home games. Like many others, I live some distance from the ground, and have a limited budget.

My record so far is;

Oxford (was there), Ramsgate (listened on BBC RK), Stafford (missed, 'cos was at Wales/S Africa rugby game - I like rugby too), Woking (watched on Sultana).

I hope that, once due diligence is complete, there wil be less of an 'us' and 'them' (whichever way round) atmosphere about what could be a superb opportunity for football fans to take the game forward, and upwards..

Re Hirsty,

No I was not calling you a moron, for putting forward your own individual views about the proposed takeover. I meant my comments to reflect the possibly perceived negative views, that are collectively being given out by just a few members on this forum. (Which come over as though they are the views of the majority of us.) Which I don’t think they are, and they are certainly not mine! I don’t think it helps our Club, nor does it help to gain new supporters, that I think we urgently need. With regards to some of your doubts, I too am worried if they will workout in the long run! But I spoke to Liam about it after the Stafford match and he is 100 percent behind it! I suggest that you speak to him yourself, if you have any points you want to make.

As I see it (and this is just my view) Similar systems have operated successfully in Italy and Spain for many years, with their members voting in all their Club Officials etc. for a given length of time.

I think the Manager or Chief Coach (as he will become) will have a safer job, with 20,000 + people deciding if he is doing a good job or not, rather than just a few Directors who could make a rash decision on a whim.

Again, I don’t think the team selection or formation will be a problem either, Liam say’s that he will give his reasons for the team and formation he has chosen and that will be voted on! – there would be no reason I can see why the majority would vote any other way than he suggests, unless the team was doing so badly, that under the present system the Manager would have been given the boot anyway!

As a Trust the Club will not be able to spend money we haven’t got! No more debt!

A higher percentage of Club income will go to the Coach for Players etc.!

It will give us one of the highest incomes in the League !

It is already putting us on the football map and that will grow and help in attracting Players !

The way the Club runs will be more transparent to us Supporters !

All the years I’ve watched we have never really been going anywhere, yes we’ve had our little highs and lows, but football wise we have never gone higher than we are now! Under the present system I can’t see there being any change, this may or may not work, but if there is a chance it will, it has my full support, I see no point in not trying it!

If it works – Great! If it doesn’t – We will just be back where we are now, nothing lost!

So as I see Why not give it a try and your Support?

I like Hirsty, post for myself, and have never said otherwise!

I also have said I'll give it three years, then pay my money to the Trust, if it works!

The trouble I, and others have is the tired dogma that is being posted on here by somebody who has never been to Northfleet, but is telling other people what to do, and think as well!

I agree with a lot you say, but think we have to be careful that it is not us who are giving out the wrong dogma, still I agree it everyones own choice! I also think that by paying now it will help to make it a success! ie. if no one pays it will flop!

The other point I was trying to make was that if our regular supporters (the faithful 800) was all to join, it would give us a powerful vote and say in our own Club!
That's why I intend to join, but its for everyone to make up their own minds! I personally will not join until the deal is complete, then at least £27 odd of my money goes to the Club anyway!
That cost is not much more than I pay to watch one match!
Now I'm a pensioner I get in on a concession ticket £7.50, then a program £2. 50, a coffee, a beer, £2 toll charges (I now live on the North Side ... it all mounts up, so I think the £27 is value for money!

Thanks huwiet,
Many of us deeply appreciate you and your fellow members interest and help you are giving to our Club.
Providing we are not lectured on all the things we are doing wrong at the moment (We know what’s going wrong!) by people who have never been to, or seen the Team or Club, I think it will be a positive step forward!
I for one, welcome all new members, however many times they are able to come, and thank them for their donations!
I hope many of them will become committed Fleet Fans over the coming Seasons, and if only one stays for the long term, it’s one more than we had!
Let’s hope that with time to adjust all of us will soon be singing from the same Hymn sheet!
Good on yer!

Thanks, shootonsite for a great reply.

I have never believed in love at first sight - my own cynical view of the world - , but have already become very fond of 'The Fleet'. Can see it becoming a bit of an infatuation, at very least... Let's hope ( as we do) that once DD is complete we are indeed singing from the same hymn sheet. It could be at my wedding!!

Not sure how to 'quote'. Guess that makes me an internet illiterate, rather than computer geek. Just as well 'cos i am a MyFC member!! My typing is a 1 finger job.

Anyway, understand what 'shootonsite' is saying. I am optimistic, but sometimes it can be difficult when surrounded by negativity. I hope that will be one perspective, for all, once DD is complete; one way forward = unity and mutual respect ,for everybody who cares about the same club - i.e. The Fleet.

After all, there has to be a point at which everyboby begins to 'support' a club. I grew up in Cardiff. Whilst I supported Cardiff City (speaking of Ribsdale, and sympathies to Leeds fans whilst at it...), many of my contemporaries followed Liverpool, Man United, and even Aston Villa in those days. Nevertheless, myself and a handful of others continued to follow 'Bluebirds'. Yet, I always wanted to know at which point people from Cardiff decided to support MUFC etc.. They never went to a game, but collected football stickers, so perhaps that made them true supporters - aged 10 ish??? Perhaps once they got a jersey for Christmas (circa 1978) the transition was complete?? My point being.. see below;

I may be a forty something now ( and still follow Bluebirds), but I still believe in football. And, the whole notion of MyFC appealed to me as a way of reclaiming football in a way that would still make 'sport's report' theme tune ("derruh, derruh, derruh, derruh, da diddley, diddley doo") still send a shiver down my spine. So that I still have to catch the local newsagent, before they shut, so that I can get the local results' paper, and spend hours poring over the league tables.

Hey, there must still be somebody out there who's as m(s)ad as me. That's why I believe that a lot of people could develop a real, and lasting affection for EUFC..

End of message, as my girlfrind wants to watch a dvd on my comp - don't have a player/recorder!!

Up The Fleet!!
