Braintree Town have re-signed popular former captain Russ Edwards and the central defender is expected to go straight into the side for their tough Blue Square South League match at Eastleigh on Saturday.The signing is a big coup for manager Lee Patterson who has also revealed he expects to sign another experienced defender next week.

 

Patterson said: "I have been tracking Russ for some time and even tried to sign him earlier on this season at my previous club, East Thurrock United.

 

"I said I intended to strengthen the back line and having Russ back at the club is a real bonus.

 

"He knows the club, the players and the way I want to play and I believe he will again be a big asset to us particularly as he is a commander at the back," he added.

 

"He's had a couple of recent games at Canvey Island but had not played this season at all for various reasons but he's what I want in the side although I appreciate it will take him a week or two to become fully match fit again."

How about we get to the ball FIRST instead of being second to it everytime?. More anticipation & less panic.

Get it right for Saturday please! You can do it!

Oh,& IF we go a goal in front try & get them to hold on to the lead for more than 10 minutes this time or better still increase the lead & STILL hold onto it! wink

No coincidence that Erith Town is having its best season for years, with Billy Edwards there. He scored last week (or the week before) as well. I know that it is a couple of leagues below us but it is still a big turn round.

Its the same news as RT said last week-so what has he been doing this week !!

 

To be fair to him,Edwards was surely more likely to go to Braintree than margate;but the point is you have more than one target at anyone time-RT seems to wait to get turned down and then go after someone else.

Normally that is fine, but we are a bit desperate.

 

Nearly getting someone is no good-could'nt care less.Just want to hear about reality.We nearly drew on tuesday -so what.

 

Nearlymen don't do it for me.

I do not want to see excuse,blame, denial.

I want to see accountability,ownership(of the problem)and results.

To be fair, Trotty is doing the best he can to get a central defender in, and I get the feeling that he won't just sign anyone who is available. He is looking for someone who will actually make an impact on the team and is of the right quality and experience that they will improve the back line. Also, we have not actually been told that Edwards was the only player RT was looking at.

Hopefully Trotty will get his man in the end, and if his past signings are anything to go by, he will be a good one!

I was put right on all of this about 15 years ago, when i was whinging about not being able to get quality staff in a business.

I was quite simply put in my place by being told :

 

'you get what you deserve' and you attract what you deserve (law of attraction).

 

It is very very true-Basically, if i had been a better manager, i would have got better staff and run a better company, so before i whinged; i was told to take a long hard look in the mirror and become a better me.

 

 

You get what you deserve.

RT will sort it out and he will do a loan deal because that is what he does he just does not have the contacts and the way we play will not lets be honest attract anyone. I noted te coment regarding Coleman as number one target what cr.. that is!
