Derby day!!!!!!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Forget El Derby, the Old Firm, Mersyside or even the North London, this weekend in the South Midlands sees the Koran of derbies - Colney vs Colney!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a call to the plebians of Hatfield without a home(loosest sense of the term) game to watch and the citizens of St Albans to abandon watching their teams catastrophic slide back down the non league ladder. Pray come and watch in the ampitheatre of dreams the titanic struggle of the Colney clans - Heath against London!!

If the premiership is 'sexy' football then this will surely be a back door sodomiser of a game!! Grass roots at it's best.

The rivalry goes back to Celtic times when two peace loving tribes lived upon the Heath at Colney. Then the Romans (bloody Romans what have they ever done for us) built the road to connect Londinium to Verulamium, all of a sudden one tribe thought they were billy big biscuits and began to look down on their near neighbours.

The footballing rivalry began one easter sunday in the traditional mob football game accross the Heath. The leader of the London Road tribe snuck accross during the game and kidnapped the daughter of the opposing leader and kept her for his own. That girl was the great great great great granddaughter of current Colney Heath chairman - Martin Marlborough. Every derby game hecalls on his players to atone for the shame brought to his family.

More recently London Colney have enjoyed more footballing success, even winning the current division not soo long ago. Both sides on Saturday will feature players who have played for both clubs, that sort of swapping not uncommon in and around the Colney area!!

Although i am no longer a registered player with the Heath mr heart is always black and white. I shall be there watching as i'm currently suffering at the hands of the Hertford Town Goalkeeping curse - Injured with ruptured knee ligaments.

I call upon anyone who has had stuff stolen from the London Colney changing rooms, or played on that ploughed field of a pitch or had the misfortune to go into the dogsdirt clubhouse, open your hearts and support Colney Heath this Saturday. Come on Craig 'Jono - i've played at a higher level' Johnstone, give us a win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There were a couple of useful (London) Colney guys on show for their ressies on Tuesday, think a couple of them were probably first teamers having a game.

A great win for Colney Heath, 2-0. There was only ever one team in it, not a feast of football but a battle. London Colney looked doomed - a team of has beans, good players in their time but i doubt many of them have done a pre-season in the last few years. As for the Heath they look a more together team now than during the troubled times. Once again proving that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts!!
