I know results have been dreadful, but hoped he'd hang on till Christmas to see how we do against some lower opposition.

Wilko's a really decent bloke and been a great servant for the club. I'd like to thank him for everything he has done for Slough Town, including taking over the poison chalice of managing us last season.

I can only echo what most people can say about Wilko. Thanks for all your hard work on and off the pitch over the last few years.

I'll always remember the last minute goal against Salisbury in the FA Cup, one of my fondest as a Slough fan as I went absolutley mental in the stand!

Top bloke, and top player. Sadly did not make it as a manager, but i'm sure he had plenty of opportunities to jump ship as a player throughout the difficult times over the last few seasons and I hope that's not forgotten by some.

Good luck Wilko...

Indeed, a fully commited Slough player through and through, he will be missed. Unfortunately he always seemed cursed to have a very rough time with the managers job with the clubs situation, but I guess it all got too much for him.

Good luck Wilko, thanks for all your efforts.

Hopefully in his place we can get a manager who has contacts and experience at this level to shake up the team and inspire some passion and confidence in the players.

I also want to chip in to say a big thanks to Wilko for the 8+ years he's been with us.

Nice guy and a superb player in his heyday, but still consistent when he's been needed to play in the last couple of seasons. Also one of our most committed players, whose will to win was immense.

It was never going to be an easy job to take on, indeed it's not been easy for any of us, and I guess it's just taken its toll. Cannot blame him one bit for leaving as I'm sure he's been tempted in the past, but I think it’s for the best. Hopefully we can all move on to better times.

Like Chris, his goal against Salisbury will always remain in my memory and for it's my favourite STFC moment of the 11 or so years I’ve been watching.

Thanks for all your hard work Wilko and good luck.

Top bloke, top footballer. A real asset to the club right to the end. Just hope that we seem him involved with the club at some point in the future, even if that means he's standing behind the goal with us and singing along...

Like everyone else, can't say I blame him for going and am just pleased he kept going for as long as he did. I truly hope the management committee aren't left looking for a replacement for too long, though Wilko's left an enormous space for whoever it is to attempt to fill.

Cheers for all your hard work Darron, here's hoping to bump into you in an amber and blue shirt soon.

I am very sorry to see Wilko go, the guy is a top bloke and has been heroic in his performances on the field for the Rebels. His commitment to the cause, enthusiasm and sheer ability always stood out. Sadly it didn't work out for him as manager here. He undersold himself as a player and is comfortably in my all time favourite Slough eleven. That goal against Salisbury is probably second only to beating Walsall as my favourite Slough memory. If he ever returns to Slough in any capacity there is always a pint with his name on it waiting from me.

Sad to see Wilko go, unfortunatily his abilities as a manager did not match his abilties as a player.

We have to get pragmatic here, perhaps reduce our playing staff in order offer the remumeration to attract a manager experinced at our level of football to get us out of our dire situation.

I wish Wilko all the best for the future, I hope he stays in football, perhaps gaining experince as a coach in a bigger club before trying his hand at management again.

Sad to see Wilko has left, he made a very genuine effort as a manager, unfortunatily this did not match his abilities as a player.

I hope that we do not rush the appointment of a new manager. I feel that if our finances allow we should go for a manager who is experineced at our level of footbalL to get us out of our present dire position.

I know that it is always nice to give someone their first break into management, but the overall position of the club at the moment neccisitates that we go for experince, even if it means reducing our playing staff in the short term.

I wish Wilko all the best for the future.

I would also like to offer my thanks to Wilko for all the years at Slough as player and manager.

It was always going to be a very tough task for him to undertake, especially as a first managerial job. He always gave his best, and was always available to talk to after the matches.

Let's hope, that now Wilko has left us, we can keep our good players, and build with whoever the new manager brings in. Otherwise we will be starting from scratch again.

All the best with the future Wilko.

All these sad to see you go comments are making me laugh. Only hours earlier most of ou were calling for a change. Yes a good bloke, top player who stayed loyal to the club, but thrown to the wolves due to inexperience as a manager. I for one not afraid to say not sorry gone, but do wish circumstances were different! Hope we will learn and not take the "easy" option of most senior player gets the job again! Legends such as West and Wilko did not deserve to have their reputations tarnished in that way, and same goes for Daly who if trend continues is next in line for poisoned chalice! No don't know who it should be, but Tony Thompson must be worth a shout.

The main thing at the moment is concentrating on the players left at the club, and pushing for the right result this weekend.

Who knows what the future will hold.

This is an end of an era in our Rebels years. Wilko and Daly were the only two left from when we started following the Rebels and I for one am very sad to see him go. As so many others have said he always gace 100% and was always there for the team. Not only does his leaving mean we are without a manager but also one of our most influential players on the pitch.

Thanks for 8 years of loyal service, some memorable moments along the way and stepping into the void last season when any sane person would have run a mile in the opposite direction. All the best for the future and hopefully we will meet up again, on the same side preferably.
