Okay, it's non-League but it doesn't have to be dire. This was dire. Sorry, lads, but as the school report would say : "Could do better".

I am not really sure what you expected ? Arsenal ?

I reckon Kenny Logan (who ?) should be voted out ?

Wait...NO...lets vote out the people who want to vote on things after seeing a)one TV game or B) a few live games or c) a combination thereof or d) none of the aforesaid !

Press your keypads now.....

Here's a short tale from Mystic Mog

Picture the scene ....the 800/900 faithful go to a home game in February. It's a freezing day, or night if it's a rearranged evening game. The game is on due to the great work of Mr Norton & helpers ( at this point can I just say that the Woking Groundsman was on holiday yesterday according to Setanta ! Just as well Woking weren't playing Halifax !!).

Anyway....the promised 24,000 extra fans don't show, bar about 40 people who live in Kent anyway. The faithful look at the team and notice 4 or 5 new players, voted in and bought on the say so of the 24,000 who aren't there. The new players turn out to be sh*t ! Nitty Nora ( Head Lice...I mean Head Coach )knew they were sh*t and didn't want them. However, he has no say in the team anymore. Fleet play their worst game of the season so far and are tonked 7-1 !

The faithful, even more miserable than usual, are pissed off with the poor performance. And there's more.....

Having frozen their nuts off, the faithful, who are treated worse than something you might pick up on the bottom of your shoe, get so pissed off that no one turns up for the next game.

The 24,000 new fans manage to muster about 200 for the said next game.....we run the sequence on....

The standard of football is so sh*t ( don't forget to vote !) that EUFC plummet to the relegation zone having lost their last 12 games.

The masses ( the 24,000) get bored with no success ( and crap voting & tactics ) and do not renew their subs ( Head Lice has had it away on his toes long ago together with Mini Coach and they are now managing a League Two team quite sucessfully ).

With poor football and no crowd, the club go into admin and suffer a 10 point deduction, thus sealing their fate of relegation.

With no 24,000, no money, no team ( the good ones have joined Dartford, the bad ones have gone back to their day jobs !)
the club goes bankrupt.

Flats ( sorry, apartments !) are built on San Stonebridge, and on the proposed site of the new stadium......and the faithful start from scratch again in the Kent League Division 6.

But we all know this Christmas tale is a myth don't we children ?

Cheers,

behead

I have just seen this gem from one of the 'managers' on a thread on there about the match last night:

'we clearly need a more potent strike force, though i can't be sure (as i haven't seen a game) if the problem is the midfield, forwards, or both.'

Unbelievable as Alan Hansen might say.

What?

Do you mean you haven't been to Stonebridge Road yet?

Sadly I havent - Im on a limited budget and cant drive (and dont have a car) - though I have a sister living in Canterbury, so I hope to get down there in '08 for the March home-game double header.

Looks like Ive managed to get a place on a coach for the York game, so I hope to get down sooner than I thought.

I think JC and Bernard where referring to the theory, I think it comes from the Ron Atkinson school of commentating, that decribes white players as having a bad day at the office when they don't perform well whereas black players who have an off day are described as lazy.
I suspect that JC and Bernard where intimating that the people who stereotype black players as lazy are racist b8st8rds and lets face it they are right.

Funny that as it was Paul Parker that said it.

I call players lazy if they ARE lazy, not because they are black, white, yellow or even green.

We've seen plenty of lazy white players at Fleet over the years, the colour of their skin makes no change to the way supporters perceive them - if they run their socks off and give 110% any player will get applauded, slouch around for 90 minutes, don't run after lost causes will incur fans wrath.

Can't actually see why anyone would raise the skin colour as an issue.

Thanks for expressing how virtuous you are Gary. We all bow down to your amazing fair-mindedness.

As for the 'skin colour issue', it was raised on another thread in relation to numerous black players labelled lazy in my time supporting the Fleet. Having thought long and hard, Andy Drury is the only white player I remember being referred to as 'lazy', others are just called 'rubbish'.

Perhaps I am reading this incorrectly, but this suggests you thought he was lazy too. I find it interesting that 'lazy' is an epithet applied almost solely to black players.

Sorry Bernard. I actually said he was too static. It was the commentator who refered to the L word.

A strange argument you have on this issue. I thought Berbatov was lazy today. Is there a different word we should use for Bulgarians?

Agree with you CG ( although I will pass on the Champagne & lay down if that's ok !). You are immune as no one ever sees a lazy goalkeeper, even when you kept picking the ball out of the net !! ( Only joking ).

People used to say Waddle was lazy.....I'd have him in my team though !! (oooh....a bit of bias there ?? )

I used to be accused of being a lazy player myself, although this was because I refused to retrieve the ball from Springhead Road cemetery after our so called midfield maestros kept depositing it in there thinking that they were Rivelinho and shooting fro 30-40 yards out, thus bypassing the forwards ( i.e. me !).

Cheers,
