Very pessimistic views

Okay so i have been reading the forum today and i agree, we are crap but i must say its not the whole team, i think we have a fairly strong midfield, a decent keeper etc.

The problem for me is the defence cant defend and none of our strikers seem capable of hitting a barn door, actually scrap that our strikers dont shoot.

I think we should be praising the likes of leon woodruffe who always poses a threat, lee riddell who has come back and seems to be the one who actually cares about the results, barney who without i could seriously see us conceeding alot more than we have.

Indeed, there are some positives in the team...Barnard, Woody, Riddell, Robinson, and also Jefferies, Moleski and Salaka have been good when in the team.

Obviously there are lots of bad points like huge holes in the defence which get exposed especially when we attack for long periods, like on Saturday for the first Didcot goal. Also we end up attacking and never really look like scoring, which really needs working on, but we do keep applying more pressure on teams now.

I think the club has plenty of positives:

Barnard, Woody, Riddell, Jefferies, Barrat, Salaka and I think Chima might be a plus too. For the future I reckon Tom and Stan will do well. Whilst we have experienced too many defeats we have also shown we can play good football and compete; Burnham and Uxbridge.

Add to this the dedication shown by so many in STFC and supporters trust in keeping the club going. Plenty of hard work goes in to the many areas like the shop, programmes, web sites etc. You should all stand up and be applauded.

We've also got the best supporters in the league, and probably better than many other leagues too and large numbers of them home and away. Even when enduring our worst defeats there is always a smile and good humour. At the best of times the team is visibly lifted and the opposition rattled by the Slough fans.

Fingers crossed the future will also be bright. We'll return to Slough and scale the heights again at our own ground. Who says that one day we won't again be battling at the top of the Conference.

Guest wallyred didcot

i was unable to go to the away game but the two games at home the first slough were very poor and if it wasn't for the keeper it could have been double. on saturday slough looked alot better although very lightweight upfront.i believe from what i've seen its the central defence that needs to be looked at.they are both very slow.

hope your season turns round starting tomorrow against hillingdon who looked quite useful at our place.

up the reds!!!!!!!

some of you do talk a load of tosh, there should be 11 out there fighting for the side some of the names you have mentioned would struggle in some Sunday park sides, what is really needed is a balanced blend of younger and older players, players like Nick Roddis dont suddenly become bad players there legs might go a bit but the natural ability doesn't. It is very difficult to find players who what to play for anyside if there are restrictions on budget etc.Perhaps there are to many older players and not enough younger ones. Most of the supporters get behind the side but it is no good doing that if you want to go on this site and slag the rest off you need to encourage players like Terry Davies (if he returns), Dean Harper, Woody and the like they dont enjoy getting beaten anymore than you do watching them but like all genuine players they do care
