For the benefit of new (and younger) viewers, this refers to a previous encounter played many years ago when Lee Cleevely was sent off for punching a member of the crowd!

Similar thing happened here a few years ago where a teacher was playing Ausssie Rules in Finals game.

Crowd member threw a can at him.

He jumped the fence, ran up the stand and knocked the guy out with one punch.

Wrong guy!

Charged and convicted for assault and suspended from football for a year.

He was my boss and a few awkward days ensued.

Many years ago, 2 teacher mates of mine got a formal warning for being in the local paper for doing a drunken runner from an Indian restaurant. Nowadays, they'd have lost their jobs.

Mind you, I was most amused to hear while listening to Radio Kent last season that a current colleague of mine (& former pupil) had been involved in a dust up with his own team mate while playing for Dover. He must have been as innocent as his name though, because he was only booked while his team mate was sent off.

The thing at our ground with the Carshalton keeper happened because a section behind the goal had been going a bit overboard with the stick aimed at the visiting keeper, Les Cleevely. He got annoyed & threw the ball into the crowd, hitting a guy who worked for us then as a part time groundsman. His mate climbed the wall & advanced towards Mr Cleevely with his fists up, only to be dispatched to the turf with a single punch.

The word 'easily' should be in there somewhere... wink Didn't he get sent off on his second visit as well?

He did for disputing a penalty rather too much. As a punishment the lad who gave away the foul had to go in goal.

Third visit he only got booked, very disappointing.
