If your answer is : It was a spurs stronghold, but its now the balance has changed. Then you would fully vindicate my arguement.Would you not??

Actually I believe that Spurs are the biggest club in Haringey not Enfield so if you must support the biggest club in an area than Enfield Town IS your only choice.

Area or Borough. There are,and always have been, more long time Spurs supporters in 'Enfield' than Arsenal supporters.Although i accept that could change over the coming years, what with more and more native Enfielders moving out towards Hertfordshire/essex.I've no doubt that Arsenal have more support amonst the new communites that are moving onto the 'area'.

Moving goalposts? The only goalpost movement has been by recent governments who have allowed reckless policies, to disperse longstranding communities and replace them with completely new ones, all within the space of a couple of decades. That has created a situation where an area such as Enfield that has been a Tottenham stronghold for over 100 years, suddenly sees vast numbers of jonny-come-lately gloryhunters pile into the area,at the same time as traditional Spurs fans have headed away from the area in vast numbers (the very situation,by the way, that could knacker ETFC's longterm hopes of decent sustained crowd numbers in the future). As such, this crazy situation has created a void where Arsenal could soon become the biggest supported club in Enfield (with Man u probably second). giveup

ps..Happy reckons this tread is sh$te.And he should know, having started and contibuted too many in his time. bow

I aagree this thread is pony. Everybody knows that the Hertford Road end (the right end) of the borough is Tottenham, and the Winchmore Hill / Gordon Hill flank (the bell end) is Woolwich.

More importantly, is Pearsons still in the town centre? I see they've closed my branch down in Wood Green(yes I know I live in dive central)

Yeah that's right, because the Hertford Road side of the borough isn't a dive!! laugh

Everyone knows that you need to be on the Western side of the A10 divide. I'm an Edmonton boy and I know why I moved to the Hill.

And stop talking about certain areas supporting certain teams because this is nonsense - there is no pattern anymore in North London!! mad
Unless you are talking about West Ham fans of course, as they are the wronguns that live in that dodgy Kent/Essex corridor going out alongside the estuary!! oh and the grim East End of course grin

Expect some boozed up Dartford fans tomorrow after they have watched the Hammers get stuffed by Chelsea boxing
