Palace Gardens - Spurs or Arsenal?

We have a lot of multi-national youngsters and teenagers in the borough of Enfield. As such, more of them (without longterm family history of supporting certain clubs),will no doubt gloryhunt and become Arsenal fans (hence the bigger shop).Amonst traditional long established residents of Enfield, Spurs are still easily the most supported club in the borough. As you would expect, being that Spurs are the local premiership team. Also, the fact that Spurs have three larger shops within a mile of eachother in Tottenham high street probably negates the need for another 'superstore' in the Town centre.

If you repeat it often enough then you will believe anything.

Some of us don't give a **** about either Spurs, Arsenal or come to that any overpriced entry premiership tart club! Most of the local sports shops may not be able to undercut Spurs and Arsenal for their replica shirts so hopefully would stop selling them. Spurs and Arsenal probably don't sell great numbers of shirts it is more brand oppression squeezing out the smaller clubs like Cockfosters, Brimsdown, Ware exiles and Us. We can fight back if we don't just accept the status quo!

Maybe we need to get a keen supporter with some market savvy to understand the local market for replica shirts. Once we have reviewed the current market Enfield Town can bridge into its community selling more replica Town shirts through existing other sports shop shelf space? Don't just roll over and let the big clubs oppress or the smaller clubs will fail to thrive!

Well said DHT. I don’t give a proverbial about either of these sides either. As a York City fan I would be pissed off if L**ds United opened a club shop in York City centre. I guess that this situation does occur throughout the country. Armchair supporters always will try to make up for their lack of attendance and actual support by purchasing overpriced official merchandise.

Palace Gardens. The Arsenal shop is adjacent to Costa coffee and the Spurs shop is next to Carphone Warehouse.

This old chestnut again! Look, professional clubs exist and have done for a long time and will attract considerably more support, get over it. Spurs is older than EFC and a lot older than either ETFC or EFC 1893. It is very common, even usual I would say, for a non-league supporter to also support a professional club - as I do. I do notlive near either but both however are the local teams, non-league and pro, for my home town where I lived until 3 years ago. I do agree about glory hunters who pick a team to support from Sky, invariably one of the top four and probably whoever is top at the time. These people should be hunted down with dogs...

but there are genuine exiles - like me (not of a top 4 club at the moment...) and otehrs like the Invisible Sister. She and her husband moved to eth Cambridge area som eyears ago and that is where their three sons were brought up. Like their parents (and uncle) they support Spurs though, it's a family thing. They go to games when they can.

Shirts - yes many of the above glory hunters buy shirts, but so do many people who actualy go to games. When I was an Invisible Lad no-one had a shirt, in my young man days a few did, but now it seems most poeple do. This even occurs at Huddersfield Town. I have a Town shirt - it represents something to me even though I rarely get to a game (will be at Dartford though!!!)

So there.
