Humour & Abuse

Recommended Posts

There are a lot of positive comments on the MyFC site about how much the new people enjoyed their 1st trip to Stonebridge Road. However, a couple of them who posted some very positive stuff also referred to:

1. Racist language heard twice

2. The infantile "Die, die, die" chant

3. The moronic (& ironic no doubt) "w*nker" abuse directed at the oppo goalie

The guy is unlikely to be lying about the racist language - he's posted a very complimentary article elsewhere on the site. Did anyone else hear it? Better still, know who the culprit was?

Can we agree not to join in the "Die" chant? It is bloody childish & will die itself, if it is not taken up, or drowned out every time it begins. And before I get accused of sucking up to politically correct softies, one of the guys objecting to some of the stuff he heard loved the "You were 1-0 up & you f*cked it up" offering.

As for the badgering of the oppo goalie, that too is childish in the extreme. I'm all for banter (as are many goalies) but calling someone a w*nker ad infinitum & ad nauseam is not banter.

Every club has it morons...

Shame really, that someones first visit could be so easily spoilt by chanting.

1 - Never heard it, so can't comment - but, it never has an excuse.

2 - "Let him die" chant is sung everywhere, will never be stopped - just have to ignore it

3 - And giving the goalie a hard time is what football fans do! Good keepers thrive on it - ask Tony Roberts! It is a bit poor if all that can be said is "SheepSh*gger" or "W*nker" tho.

Lets hope its not enough to put them off coming back - or to put others off their first time.

It is sad to say that racist comments are still being made at Fleet games. This can be on a moronic neanderthal level of racist insults, or a slightly more subtle over-criticism of black players. The number of comments about perceived 'laziness' of black players (Manny, Chukki, Nade, Essandoh, Stadhart, Rawle to name a few) far outweighs those aimed at our other players (in fact I'm struggling to think of any of the top of my head). People who consider such comments justified need to take a long, hard look at themselves.

I stood at The Swanscombe End in the first half & in the small corner terrace in the second half. I did not hear any racist chanting at all. It may help if whoever heard it said which part of the ground it came from ? Then the 1053 of us can be distanced from the 1 or 2 who said it !

PM if you can't see the difference i think perhaps i'll not waste my breath.

Maybe us lower league clubs are a little more quaint and well mannered or got sickened quicker than you big boyz. Mind you it could be a geographical thingy too.

Now where's that unctuous urchin.... wink

I believe it was in the Plough End.

...I personally get fed up with the C*** word and the "take it up the a***" jibe. It is not clever or funny unless you are a 10 year old and frankly after it has been repeated time after time just gets annoyingly boring. Why can't these blokes think up something a bit witty or different - perhaps they have not got the brain to?

I thought the 1 -0 up song was quite funny...I just worried it might gee up the opposition too much!

Can't say I hear anything racist though.

It wasn't racist chanting. According to the poster, some guy used the word beginning with n twice. When a steward approached, he was abused as a paedophile by the same person, I believe, & decided better of approaching him (if I have read the MyFC post properly.) Drummer congratulated for striking up to drown out the unedifying comments.
