Billericay 0-1 Margate

Some random musings.

Billy Macmahon stretchered off & presumably the Ambulance coming down Blunts Wall Rd. after full-time was for him. Hope he's OK.

I guess there were one or two playing with injuries out there and, in view of that, our first half performance was pretty good. Unlucky not to put a few chances away.

Second half we struggled which begs the question, why was Bradshaw not bought on until 10 minutes from the end? From his short time on the pitch he looked pretty acomplished.

Will we have a new signing, who can go straight into the team, for Wealdstone on Wednesday?

I thought Burbridge & Abbo, two players who have there critics on the terraces, both did ok today.

Hodgey wasn't half the player he can be and presumably is not 100% fit (again, why was better use not made of Bradshaw if that case?).

Why did Boot go off for BWG leaving Rikki on? Whilst Rikki had a reasonable game, when did he last score?

They are some of the questions that were circulating around the area I was standing. There's probably some pretty good answers, I'm sure.

Billy has done knee ligaments according to the interview with Matt on BBC Essex, and has been taken to hospital.

Disappointing today. Could easily have been 2 or 3 up at half-time. Faded second half, and predictably let one in.

Not that it would probably have made much difference, but might it have been worth sending Buckfield up for the corner in the 94th minute? What's to lose?

To be honest the first half performance was the best ive seen from the team in the LEAGUE for a while and we should have gone a couple up with the wind advantage ... but in the second half we looked a totally different side, hodges had what i thought was his worst game in a town shirt and although burbs had a good game he was never going to score was he now?

And just to ask the question what was matty doing at the end taking boot of instead of burbs and not taking hodgey off for bradshaw instead of abbo to provide us with a little more pace and something different ... ?

Best wishes for billy aswell, hope he has a quick recovery.

Talk about luck deserting you.... An injury list as long as your arm, players who shouldn't have been near the squad because of knocks having to play 90 minutes, Billy getting crocked... Their keeper played a blinder 3 or 4 top saves, safe hands under the high balls. Billy had nothing to do until he got injured...

I think the commitment was a lot better than at Ashford, partly because the loan players weren't there (I'm guessing the reason Bradshaw didn't play more was he didn't do very well against Ashford).

Hodgey played well for me, apparently he's going to see the specialist this week and is likely to have an op... Likewise good to see 90 from Burbs, if he can stay fit he can be an important player for us.

First half we were unlucky. The times we took our chances their keeper stepped up to the plate and pulled of the save (in spectacular fashion). The overall performance of the team was good, certainly better than the Ashford game.

Second half we faded and struggled against the wind but still had more of the ball than Margate did in the fist half when they were aginst the wind.

It is typical that when a club is down the bottom, it can be difficult to get out but look at Maidstone!!! Rooted at the bottom when we last played them, they have put together a run and now in 6th place. Whilst our attention was fixed elsewhere, our eye off the "league ball", other teams have made a "certain amount of hay". So anything is possible and whatever is wrong will be put right.

There were a few comments made last night about the fate of the team and the club and all I can say to those that wish to spread the whisper of doom and gloom is that no team either won the league or got relegated from the league in Novemeber or December...

Anyway, I WILL be at Wealdstone and I will be supporting the team.

Billericay town Fc is a club, it's a social club where people meet, enjoy a chat and a cup of tea, or a pint of beer. Its our club, its our community.

Of course we go to see the football, and of course we want to win, or at least lose with pride.

BTFC has been around for 137 years, our current status and league position are far from being a disaster, of the worst position we have been in, or could have been.

Things need to change football wise, we know that, but the one constant is the club. We have to take the rough with the smooth, we enjoy the glory of winning, therefore we should be big enough to take the despair of defeat...

It twas a cold dark wind that blew at New lodge yesterday.

I thought the lads played very well yesterday okay the 2nd half was more of a struggle but you have to give credit where it's due and their Keeper was on form with lightening fast reactions.

We obviously will get out of the rut and even though the score line did not show it we played better as a team.

IMO V Swansea we lost with pride, But V Margate we lost our luck.

Onwards and upwards my friends boxing

Well if it helps at all, you look far too good to stay in the relegation zone. It was a pretty even game and could have gone either way. Our Manager said as much in his interview with me ( see Match Reaction).

Just don't hold onto the "we're too good to go down" thing. We can all think of examples where that hasn't worked.

See you at ours in March.

We played much better than last week and imo definitely deserved at least a share of the spoils but when you're at the wrong end you don't seem to get the breaks and this was compounded by yet another injury to McMahon.

I'm glad to see that everyone is so confident but for me that's part of the problem. We would do well to heed Wellsie's advice. Hard work is what's required and in fairness I thought we did ok on that score yesterday.

Hopefully results and our crock list will improve soon and we will move up the table but we should not assume that this will happen automatically.

Let's hope the revival starts on Wednesday.

Come on you blues!!

Well, something has been done. It's not just confiedence, it's a show of support and being positive in light of recent rsults.

We are much more than just a "one team" club. There is more that happens down the club in which people can and do support the club as a whole but to those that have an interest in just the the first team, have to, IMHO, at least show the players and the team some support...

...we didn't play badly yesterday. We just didn't get the run of luck.
