I believe most members will be disappointed by this attendance figure particularly given all the hype around the announcement of an ‘agreement in principle’ between MyFC and EUFC. So I think it is necessary to analyse the figure of 1,055 and put it into context. I will not be commenting for the reason for the attendance figure merely providing a background for the inevitable discussion.

EUFC average attendance 2007/2008 season (so far) – 986 – the highest attendance was for the game V Torquay at 1,368 and the lowest was V Droylsden at 788.

EUFC average attendance 2006/2007 season – 1,165 – the highest attendance was for the game V Oxford at 2,019 and the lowest V Stafford Rangers at 857. There were four other games last season where the attendance was over 1,200 (Dagenham & Redbridge 1,504 – Southport 1,432 – Stevenage 1,409 – Woking 1,208)

Compared to last season –
Last season the game V Stafford Rangers had an attendance of 857 (the lowest attendance of the season) with a season average of 1,165. This would equate to an attendance this season of 725 (adjusting for the drop in the season average)

To be more accurate if we take an average of the attendances of the games last season, involving the same teams that EUFC have played this season (we have to ignore Histon, Droylsden and Torquay) we get the following~
Last season average – 1,137
This season average – 975

Putting these averages into the attendance for today’s game
Last season V Stafford Rangers – 857
Adjusting for the drop in season average – 734

This would indicate that the attendance for today’s game was 321 more than should have been expected if the season averages had held true to form.

Again this is only a statistical analysis – it does not take into account the time of year the game was played, the weather conditions or any other factor that may have influenced the attendance.

Statistically – MyFC’s involvement led to an increased attendance of 321 for today’s game.

ha ha ha.....you been sitting there all day waiting to post that wanchai.......you will not gain favour with continued jack and jill type spin.....every real fan in NL will see through that post.....

get behind the club and the real fans and build from there or else you will fail....your post today was patronising as most of your posts have been...(not all).....

we had a bigger crowd than that when EU came to us for a pre-season last year...get real...

ooops......calm down wanchai...its only a forum and no need for abuse....we are just debating and trying to get this club of ours forward...can't see why you should accuse me of that when there are 23000 members all with varying opinions....or don't you like the edge... grin

as for what I do or don't do...well I do give a sh1t about all of NL and in this case I give a big sh1t about ebbsfleet falling into the wrong hands which is why I am here and why I am a member of the same club as you...presumably with the same democratic rights but possessing a lot more knowledge about the first...intermediate and end game than you....

long way to go wanchai...long way to go.... asien

Last seasons Stafford game was on a miserable wet Tuesday night with Champions league live on he telly which tends to affect the gate.

It was a dissapointing gate today although it looked more like 1250 than 1055 to me, maybe they didn't count the hoards of press from around the world desperately trying to get quotes from anyone and everyone.

Lies,damm lies & statistics !!!

Oooh it's cold in Kent isn't it ? B*llocks ! What's wrong with all you boys from North of Watford ? T-Shirt weather for you isn't it ? none on show today though !!

Yep....1055 was slighty up on my prediction of 957......where were all the 1800 plus boys then ?? Too cold ?

It's a game of opinions Brian ! I bet you have never set foot in Kent, but you have all the stats at a touch of a laptop ! Did you factor in the weather ? The opponents, the journo's, the stag parties, the boredom, the flowing football, the passion of those whose were born here, the tide pattern, the humour grin ?

It's all b*llocks

Have a good weekend....

Cheers,

Well, 1055 and around 1000 Fleet fans at least, is much better than the 850 I would have predicted at most. More would obviously be nice, both from Gravesham and from MyFC, but a higher than average attendance for a low-profile game on an absolutely freezing afternoon goes down well with me.

Great performance as well, hopefully this draws the newbies back down and attracts those who doubted whether to go today before opting out.

If you are talking about me - my name isn't Brian - never been to Kent - stats took about 10mins - and no - I clearly pointed out that I didn't take in any other factors other than the stats available. And of course you can only have passion for a club if you were born close enough to have broken the office windows when you were a kid. Incidentally, BBC Kent reported that there were about 15 journalists at the game.

I think we have to be honest. There were quite a few "new" supporters there today - maybe 200ish. The alarming empty spaces were in the Plough End (where our regular support would sit) easily the emptiest I've seen it for a Saturday game. My stand (the old wooden seated one) was much fuller than usual & I'd guess the Stonebridge Road terrace directly opposite was about 15% up.

Yes, I'd expected more MyFC fans today, but without them we'd have been at 800ish. What is evident is that the lardarses of Gravesend have not been at all moved by what's happened - they probably never even go on the net except to access porn & don't read past the front & back pages of the Sun. Anyway, on tv, they had Newcastle v Liverpool & later a choice between Wigan v Charlton & the Chelsea game. They have to win some credibility with the missus, so that comes during the time they might otherwise be watching the Fleet.

I say, give everyone in Gravesham a "can I be arsed to watch live football in the flesh" test & re-introduce the death penalty for all those who say no. (The executioner would need to buy a [****!!****] thick rope, though, to support the body weight of most of his clients.)

I joined MyFc in August with a lot of enthusiasm for involvement in a club I previously had no interest in. I've been reading the posts on MyFc for the last few months and I was impressed by other football fans enthusiasm too. It has only just occurred to me that neither them nor I have any intention of visiting stonebridge road. What we really want to do is play CM 08 Ebbsfleet with your players in and out of the side at the click of a mouse. If you read the thread on MyFc about todays attendance its full of "I couldn't go cos I Live in Sweden or Its cold in Kent at this time of year or I would have to leave my bedroom and risk skin ailments." If it goes ahead I hope your alliance with MyFc works out well but I fear that no one is interested in your club now and in 12 months time......well who can tell?

I obviously only listened via the BBC, and despite it being against lowly Stafford Rangers, and despite it being cold, and all the other reasons/excuses people didn't go, I'm disappointed in the turnout. I'm not chastising anyone, just disappointed more people weren't there to see the victory. When Lord Chas estimated 1600 were there, I felt it was a decent, if not stellar turnout. When 1055 was announced, I was surprised.

I still believe that, despite the infusion of capital into the club, MyFC's involvement still has to get more people into the ground for it to be deemed a success in the long run. I hope that the Fleet's impressive comeback victory will convince a few more to go next time.

There were more "strangers" there for sure but also a few "regulars" who weren't.

Granted the weather and the "hilarious" M2/A2 traffic (I snuck off at 1a on the 25 and went through Crossways - much quicker) could be used as excuses but the attendance was less than I expected.

Loads of merchandise sold though and Internet orders going well.
