Predict the Stafford Crowd Result

Yorkfox

Recommended Posts

A few days ago I posted on both the MYFC & Ebbsfleet boards for people to predict the crowd for the game at home against Stafford Rangers.

Less people guessed on the Ebbsfleet board, so I have used the same number of guesses off the MYFC board, using page 1 to keep the comparisons fair. Calculations at Midnight Friday.

The results are.

On the Ebbsfleet United Board - 1,443

On the MYFC Board - 1,828

Old & New Fans Combined - 1,635

It is a somewhat disappointing turnout.

However, pretty chilly in Kent today I understand..and besides.

I always said the gate is dependant on the good people of Gravesend&Northfleet and surrounding areas.

Long term..the gate has to come up otherwise operational loss will kill everything off, like the nature of operational loss is.

Still, there is time to work on the gate..and we need success on the pitch for that to happen.

GREAT result with ten brave men standing.I would like to hear Eribennes version..but it will have to be a good one.

What is the defence for be sending of for a headbutt in the first half against likely beaten opposition with 0-0 standing?

He must have dropped his brain!

Still,three points..cheers all around.

Nice one!

Looked more than 1055 to me... we all thought more like 1,250, but maybe we've grown too used to 800 crowds!

Chukki seemed to swing at the guy with his arm but missed him, then the two locked heads. Red was harsh, particularly as the other bloke got yellow.

Poor turnout by Stafford R ? (What was last years crowd ? )

nette and I were up for coming but when I did a sat nav traffic analysis of the bridge and bluewater turnoff it was horrendous....never thought about that before today but I think that it will take past the january sales before crowds increase....good win anyway and well done...

I know that you probably had a better view than I but it was definately a movemnet of the head. Not sure I would call it a headbutt though. Staff player was enticing him though. They both should have gone.

Fantastic result today! George's goal was better than De Bolla against Kiddie.

Still got my usual seat as everyone on the internet seems gives it large but sees nothing through.

I posted this a short time ago on MyFC -

BBC appear to have indicated that the official attendance at today’s game between Ebbsfleet United and Stafford Rangers was 1,055.

I believe most members will be disappointed by this attendance figure particularly given all the hype around the announcement of an ‘agreement in principle’ between MyFC and EUFC. So I think it is necessary to analyse the figure of 1,055 and put it into context. I will not be commenting for the reason for the attendance figure merely providing a background for the inevitable discussion.

EUFC average attendance 2007/2008 season (so far) – 986 – the highest attendance was for the game V Torquay at 1,368 and the lowest was V Droylsden at 788.

EUFC average attendance 2006/2007 season – 1,165 – the highest attendance was for the game V Oxford at 2,019 and the lowest V Stafford Rangers at 857. There were four other games last season where the attendance was over 1,200 (Dagenham & Redbridge 1,504 – Southport 1,432 – Stevenage 1,409 – Woking 1,208)

Compared to last season –

Last season the game V Stafford Rangers had an attendance of 857 (the lowest attendance of the season) with a season average of 1,165. This would equate to an attendance this season of 725 (adjusting for the drop in the season average)

To be more accurate if we take an average of the attendances of the games last season, involving the same teams that EUFC have played this season (we have to ignore Histon, Droylsden and Torquay) we get the following~

Last season average – 1,137

This season average – 975

Putting these averages into the attendance for today’s game

Last season V Stafford Rangers – 857

Adjusting for the drop in season average – 734

This would indicate that the attendance for today’s game was 321 more than should have been expected if the season averages had held true to form.

Again this is only a statistical analysis – it does not take into account the time of year the game was played, the weather conditions or any other factor that may have influenced the attendance.

Statistically – MyFC’s involvement led to an increased attendance of 321 for today’s game.

Actually I don't doubt the above-average (for this season) attendance was likely down to the MyFC contingent - though that was less sizeable than I thought it might be. Where it fell short was - as has been the problem for two years or so - the 'interested' public of Gravesham weren't interested enough. I think we all assumed another hundred of them on the gate might happen, but it didn't. The four enthusiastic mates I had last week were a lot less enthusiastic when I rang the hungover b@stards this morning and suddnely weren't bothered.
