Its times like this when I wonder why I bother!!

 

Went to Wembley yesterday, got soaked in the short walk from the underground to the stadium before settling down to watch the prima donna's throw away the lifeline they was handed to fail to qualify for the Euro's.

 

You can talk all day about 1 or 2 upfront, tactics and motivation but if you defend like a bunch of incompetent idiots then you will lose. The first goal was farcical, the second pathetic and although we continued to look dodgy at the back we did at least manage to get back into the match and bring it level at 2-2, and the result we needed to go through. But no this is England, once again when they get a scoreline they need (normally a goal lead but in this case a draw) then they all sit back en mass and allow the opposition to get on top again, and yet again we paid the penalty-how many times do these players have to continually make the same basic errors before the learn from them!!!!!

 

Standing in the queue on the way back to the underground, predictably enough the heavens opened again-great-and another soaking. After finally getting onto a train, the lights then proceeded to cut out and we was given an announcement that everyone was to stay where they are and not move!! Yep we all thought their was a bomb, hopefully on the other train!

 

As it transpired some clever bloke had decided to go for a pee ON the track, derrrrrrrr. The train driver made an announcement that they had to stop because there was an idiot on the track, and then he added it was probably Steve McLaren-that was about the highlight of the day I think. Of course we then had to wait what seemed an age so they could make safety checks.

 

Just when I think it can't get any worst then today it has been announced that Luton Town FC has gone into administration, yet again! It happens every few years so I shouldn't be surprised but this time we are going to have ten points deducted which will put us bottom of the league, a league we were "apparently" one of the favourites to actually win.

 

We have sold virtually a whole teams worth of Championship players, making £13 million pounds in the process, spent virtually sod all in replacing them yet still losing money hand over fist. We are also under an FA investigation (which the ex chairman has admitted to making illegal payments) and the strong rumour is that we are looking at a points deduction, or even relegation, for these misdemeanors.

 

Can it get any worst!

if it cant get any worse it can only get better.

 

Dust yourself down, (or dry yourself off!) and get up and do it all again.

 

Its the lows that make the highs worthwhile and special.

Horace, tough season for Derby no doubt but you've got a great stadium and 30,000 fans!! Will we ever get a new stadium???? And we seem to be losing fans on a weekly basis due to constant inept running of the club. Add on to that our two nearest teams (I don't say rivals as we refuse to accept one of them are) are top of their respected divisions then its a depressing time at the moment.

 

I actually think Derby could have a few turbulent seasons but they certainly have the set up for a good future.

 

Cheers thespursfan, if you look at the link that Rhodes has provided then you will no doubt see a name that you are familiar with, one Derek Peters, who was the finance director at Luton whilst the illegal payments were made.

AWK - sorry, that was flippant of me! I haven't followed the Luton Town story recently, although I know Mike Watson-Challis (and Sheila) from my days at Baldock Town. I have tried to erase their involvement in Baldock from my memory, but it's not easy!
