Temi and Dan aren’t long term. Dan could’ve played last night but I decided not to risk it. Temi could be available for Saturday also. What I’ve realised in football is that you can’t please everyone… 😂 In my whole career, I genuinely think it’s the first time someone has played 25 minutes, scored a winning goal and the gloss is taken off it because he’s a loan player! Loans are there to be utilised because ‘hopefully’ we get better players from a higher level to come in and improve us. A club like ours would be stupid not to delve into the loan market. Anyway…17 points -

Feel like I have to say something here… Rhys and I have had a really good chat, and things are fine. He’s been great. I’ve explained that we have conceded the most goals in the league and that he is the only player to have played every game since coming into the starting 11. Other players in every position get dropped, rested, left out, whatever you want to call it and goalkeepers should be no different, but in this situation there seems to be questions, which I don’t mind. Rhys is up there with the best when it comes to shot stopping, no hesitation in saying that, but he’s admitted he doesn’t talk enough or loudly enough when he does. His kicking has been questionable at times also which he openly admitted to me, so there are two areas of his game which he’s been trying to improve. A keeper that is loud, organises and gives good information can make a huge difference for our back line and it’s something that we would like to improve on so that’s why we’ve made the decision for now. There’s no secret that Rhys has had to get through a lot of work this season making saves, but hopefully with someone behind the back 3 or 4 organising, we hope that the new keepers workload will become less. It’s important that Rhys continues to play, to develop and to learn parts of his game. I’ve sorted a loan to step 3 which would be good for him for now where he can continue to do this but it’s been put on hold for now by his agent, which is fine. I understand he has to do best by his player. Taking a keeper out of the firing line is no different from leaving any other player out. He’s come so far in a year and I’ve told him yesterday how proud he should be of that as he’s achieved a lot, even dislodging Northy is a massive achievement, a goalkeeper who has played over 350 games at this level! Nobodies career is ever in an upward trajectory year after year, it’s sometimes one step back to two take or three forward. I believe Rhys will be a top keeper and player higher than the Conference South but for now I/we feel it’s the right thing for us. I’ll be accountable for the decisions I make in giving us the best possible chance to stay in the division and I’m doing/giving everything I can to do that to make sure that we achieve it, so let’s see. Hope that helps 👍🏼16 points -
What a fantastic day yesterday was, the performance and effort was outstanding and the atmosphere was the best for along time. I'm sure Holyport Rebel will be posting soon with a more detailed and educated account of the game. In memory of my dad Bim i sponsored the game yesterday and i have no doubt he would have loved the day watching from above. It wasn't easy trying to pick a man of the match as every player had a great game but i had to pick one so congratulations to Aaron. I was pleased that some of my family came along to the game as well and although they are not football fans they said at the end of the day that they thoroughly enjoyed the day and were tempted to comeback, even my wife was asking about getting a half season ticket but i'm not sure if that's a good idea. What i would say to everyone is that if you want to celebrate an occasion or like myself sponsor a game in memory of loved one then i would highly recommend that you sponsor a match, you won't regret it, the hospitality is superb and a very enjoyable day will be had by all. The club we all support is one of the most special clubs anyone could follow and would like to finish by saying a huge thank you everyone connected with the club in making yesterday a very special day. My dad would have been proud and personally i thank him for taking me to my first Slough game in 1965 and hope there are many more to come. As we say ONCE A REBEL ALWAYS A REBEL.16 points

Not posted on here for a while for obvious reasons, but just wanted to come on here and thank those for a nice reception yesterday, was great to see some familiar faces Tuesday and yesterday. Scottie continues to do a brilliant job, and whilst the result didn’t go your way yesterday it was an extremely close game with not much between the two teams. Had Slavi scored his header it might have been a very different game from our perspective, either way the Rebel army were in fine voice as per usual and really got behind the lads, I sincerely think that with some of the exciting players Scottie has bought in you can have a really good season, and it is the first result I look for after a game. Will look forward to the return fixture at Arbour Park, Bakes15 points -

Very sad to hear that 2 of the best managers the club have ever had have left. You have given us such fantastic memories that we will never forget. Not only great managers but also very approachable, which is a great quality. On a personal note i would like to thank both Jon and Neil for bringing so much joy into my dad's life. My dad ( Bim Elliott ) sadly passed away last year after supporting the rebels for 85 years. He lived for Slough Town and although suffering with his health especially with dementia it was the thought of the success you both brought back to the club and that you also took time to come over and say hello to him, something he always mentioned and made his final years a little bit more comfortable. So many thanks for giving us such great memories and wish you well for the future.14 points

Hi Everyone, Firstly, I want to say my thoughts and prayers go out to Christian Rowe, his family and his friends. I haven’t said my goodbye’s yet out of respect. It is not about me at this time and some things are far more important than football, departures. Slough lost a great player with huge potential who I played alongside only a matter of weeks ago and I hope I have not taken anything away from the respects that he deserves. It was with a heavy heart that I made the decision to leave Slough after nearly 9 seasons at the club. A few hundred appearances, two promotions, lots of yellows, a few reds, a handful of goals and a million long throws, it has been some journey that’s for sure and one that has defined most of my football career - 9 years I am so grateful for. It was a decision that was not easy and one that wasn’t ever on the radar, but it was one I had to take. I fully expected to be shown the door at Slough in another couple of years when my legs eventually pack up and I couldn’t continue on anymore at this level. I have met some amazing people along the way, team mates and many of the fans and volunteers and have loved chatting after games in the clubhouse having a beer or two after. I have received some lovely messages and I am thankful for all the kind parting words I have received, I am very grateful. Some of the memories I have of my time at Slough are ones that will live with me forever, Kettering, Kings Lynn and the FA Cup runs to name a few. Slough has been like a family to me and have supported me during the most difficult of times I have faced with the passing of my Mum back in 2016 and I will forever be grateful for how I received such great support throughout my 9 years with the club, everyone is so welcoming and friendly, and I wish everyone well. I just want to address the ‘comment’ made on the interview that has ruffled a few feathers - I would never disrespect Slough Town in any way. My comments in the moment were not in anyway to be disrespectful or a dig, it is simply as a player making reference to teams that have bigger budgets in the league and is something as players we are all aware of, it wasn’t in refernece to the clubs history or the size of the club in previous years and so on. I hope that can clear up that topic and draw a line under that. I will always keep an eye out on the Slough results and I hope the club continue up the table this season. I’m hoping I can get to a game in midweek or when we return to play against Slough in the league, that I get a chance to say goodbye properly to you. Thank you to everyone that has supported me, the fans especially the people behind the scenes too, the volunteers that make the club tick and to the managers, coaches, physios and players. Good luck and I hope to see you all again soon. Guy14 points -
This is a personal message to Bakes and Unders. Yesterday was the first game this season my 93 year old father and myself didn't go to for obvious reasons. My father having seen the rebels close on 5000 times was very disappointed but still listened to the match on the radio. With everything going on in the world today a penalty miss is not that important. I have mentioned this before but the job the 2 of you have done since being at the club has been nothing but remarkable and given us so much pleasure to everyone. Whatever happens for the rest of season we both look forward to watching the rebels again and the outstanding work that you,the team and everyone involved with club do for us. Many thanks again14 points

Your agenda is baffling. Yes, finished 10th, the squad (not me) massively overachieved. Lost 6 from the starting 11 to what you could call bigger clubs. Rebuilt a new team and have avoided being in the relegation places for over 16 months. If we had finished 15th last season and 15th again this year, then people would have seen that as okay. If anything, we are a victim of last years success but fortunately the club know what the remit is and what we face on a weekly basis in a league tougher than ever before. Also sold Leon for a phenomenal amount of money for a player at this level. No two seasons are ever the same. Look at Aveley.. playoffs last season and now look destined to go down. Be careful what you wish for. Oh wait, I know what you want. I’ll save that line for someone else 👍🏼13 points -

Couple of things Sir Rebel. What was your thoughts on yesterdays game? Also, genuine question… ‘Be painful to read’, for who? You are acting like the 23 game review is a big day in the diary for everyone. Is this an annual thing?! 😅 A year ago we had played 22 games, had 20 points and a -20 goal difference. Scored 22 goals and conceded 42. A year on, we have played 19 games, 23 points. Scored 35, conceded 33 with a +2 goal difference. Add to that, we’ve got to the 1st round of the FA Cup which was extremely valuable for the club whilst bedding in a whole new squad. Anyway… happy Sunday everyone!13 points -

I did say I’d come off the forum, but I’ll answer a couple of points to give a bit of clarity which I think is fair. Lexus recently has had personal issues going on which I don’t believe is fair to say post match on an interview that will go far and wide. It’s nothing drastic, he’s okay but he’s told us that he’s not been his normal self. He’s also our joint top earner, on a non contract and travels in from south London which takes just under 2 hours at times. If you look at the games in which Dan and Lexus have played CB together in a 4, we haven’t won a single game. The analysis that I do compared to your opinions over the course of watching the game live for 90 minutes, there will be a lot of unseen things. Lexus’ two best games were Tonbridge and Maidenhead at home both as a right back. With the regards to Bayliss, we’ve spoken at length and he feels much more comfortable in a back 3 as does Guy. Probably worded it wrong, but what I meant is that we get the best out of Bayliss in a back 3 as he has the security to go and attack the ball knowing full well that he has two centre halves inside him. Our results last season as a back 3 were much better than playing a 4 and it’s something we want to try and get back to. Bringing Guy back was only possible with the outgoings of one or two, hence the decision that we have made as a management team, and hopefully that was backed up with his performance yesterday! Also, we are hopeful of a left back signing this week, which probably gives even more clarity once again in terms of what the decisions.12 points -
Tickets now on sale for Monday
Jago and 11 others reacted to Fat Tom Daley for a topic
I've kept quiet but there is a couple of things that need to be explained as I'm quite frankly offended about the accusations that we not a family club. Firstly, due to incredible tight turnaround between games, it was impossible to produce match-coded tickets which could not be fraudently replicated. This is a different print process that a programme for instance as we would need at least 2-3 working days to sort this. Therefore we have utilised our online ticket office to carry out the sales. As it rare for us to go all ticket, we do not have any history of who has attended most matches this season as most people pay by cash/card. Therefore we cannot implement a 'loyalty points' scheme for the site. Due to technical limitations, we were unable to produce a code for each HFCSA member to enter the site in a priority window. However, this is something I will look into in the future to see if this can be made possible. In addition, we do not have the contact details of each SA member which would have also made it tricker. In regards about not announcing a notice of when they were due to go on sale. Last season we provided a time and date for the tickets to go live on the portal and we sold 500 tickets in the space of 2 minutes, which is frankly insane. Therefore we thought it would be better to not announce a time so there was not everyone queueing up and a higher chance of our regular fans getting tickets. The announcement time of 9pm last night was after a day of negotiations with Aveley and the league. We decided this would be a time which would not have heavy traffic online for non-regular supporters. We were very, very surprised at the speed of which these tickets sold. Last season, the initial batch of tickets (1000) was sold over 24 hours. This turned into more being sold this time around in 25 minutes. This season we also limited it to 4 tickets per address, whereas last season this was up to 12 in the initial sale. If you see any touts, please contact us on hfcsa@hornchurchfc.com or enquiries@hornchurchfc.com and we will investigate. If any tickets is being sold fraudently, we will look to cancel the tickets via the QR code system. The growth of the club in the past few years has been learning curve for all of us at the club and on the HFCSA committee. We are learning as we go and we admit we have made mistakes along the way. We will always strive to do better in the future but please do not shout out the volunteers. We are trying our best and not trying to upset people. There has been significant planning which has gone into Monday's match and we hope it will be a great day. In regards to streaming, we are speaking to the league and Aveley as you need approval from both. I can only apologise to any supporters who did not get a ticket. If you could contact me directly on hfcsa@hornchurchfc.com if you want to discuss further. Kind Regards, Jordan HFCSA Chairman.12 points -

The first two months I was under budget as I didn’t want to sign people for the sake of signing people, and like you say, there was a lot of uncertainty with everything going on. There was also a lack of players that were available. I think Bakes and Unders had the same approach and would spend the money as if it was their own and wouldn’t be wasteful or overspend on players. That’s always something I’ve had in the back of my mind and tried to stick to that. The last few months, particularly Franny’s injury, meant that I asked for a replacement and the club/board/owners backed me which took us over the budget that was first agreed. Give it another few days, maybe a week and hopefully they will all agree that it was the right decision and it’s paid off to allow us to do that bit of business! Having better attendances certainly helps when I go and ask for extra, that’s for sure! 😅 Nothing has been sorted/signed with regards to next season but I wasn’t ever looking that far ahead to be honest, it would’ve been stupid to have done that with our league position. I had one aim and hopefully we have achieved that.12 points -

Bonjour, thank you for your post, means a lot to read that. On December 3rd we were 1 point above the relegation zone and in absolute turmoil with players departing and a lot of uncertainty at the club. If truth be told, had someone offered us to be where we are in the league now then I would have snapped their hand off. I never imagined that we would march on up the table and pull ourselves away from the bottom with ease. And if anyone thought otherwise then I’d be surprised! We’ve got 9 players in the squad at the moment who have been added since the day I took charge, so trying to rebuild mid season with where we were at in December was never going to be plain sailing. The last two games have been powder puff to say the least, but with Togs, Lenchy, Joe and Temi all available from the start on Saturday certainly puts us in a better position compared to where we were at yesterday evening at 7.45pm. Losing Franny (arguably our best player in many peoples eyes) has also been a huge loss but we’ve coped admirably in my opinion with picking up results in his absence. We will be stronger for the last month of the season with people available, the month where it counts, so hopefully that’s a positive. I know it’s not looking as comfortable as someone might have hoped but we will do everything we can stay in this league. Mark my words. Scotty12 points -
Baker & Underwood take over at Beaconsfield
DonnyNo6 and 11 others reacted to Neil Baker for a topic
Have stayed off the forum in terms of posting as did not feel appropriate since we left , I think Scottie will back me up in saying that behind the scenes we could not have been any more helpful in the handover, and we speak daily still. I love the club, the people, and to be honest always will. We are always ambitious, that is no secret, however I think that we have proved over the years how loyal we have also been, so to knock us and say as soon as a ‘better option’ comes up we will be off, I think is a slight on us as people. We had an opportunity to go to a NLP club at one point in our tenure but we turned it down without even talking to them because of our loyalty to the club. The fact is both myself and Unders love football, it is not and has never been about financial reasons, the people in the know at the club will also back that up. In all honesty we both needed a break, and having some time out made us both realise how much we needed it, there is a lot of stress and hard work involved in non league management, especially when you are juggling full time jobs, families, personal problems etc. However that being said we are both missing the buzz you get from football, and something we have both got from playing, and managing whether at step 2 or where I started out managing at step 6. The Beaconsfield opportunity has come up in the last week, and whilst it has been a bit of a whirlwind, we just felt that having met the owner and the CEO that they came across great, and we felt that we could both work for/with them, and whilst we know there will be many bumps along the way, it has given us both a renewed energy. We put a lot of time into Slough and it will always have a special place in our hearts, we were always thankful for the opportunity, but we feel as though we left a legacy at the club, and left them in a better place than when we first came in, and that is all you can ask for IMO. (3rd and hopefully final part.) The second half began and we were playing so well. A neutral wouldn't have known which was the full-time Football League team and which was the part time Non-Leaguers. We came so close to getting an equaliser. It just wouldn't come. Then, three quarters of the way through the match, Grimsby score a 4th. Two goals behind again and such a blow to our hopes. Even then George had a great chance to claw a goal back and make it 4-3, but it wasn't to be. We had given Grimsby one hell of a battle, and fate was very unkind to us to have a final scoreline of 7-2. When you think we lost Temi so early on due to an injury. Scotty came off injured as well. Our players worked their socks off all night on what looked like a massive pitch. When the players came over to where us fans were after the final whistle was blown, it was very special to give them an ovation deserving of the efforts that they had all put in. I thought my fellow Rebel fans were also outstanding last night. I felt so proud of the team and management for all that they had done in the two games against Grimsby, and I felt very proud last night to be among such a fantastic, amazing and loud bunch of fans saluting our team. Yeah, we lost the match, but it was still such a special night to be a Slough Town fan. .11 points -

What I never see anytime as anyone saying thank you to all the helpers who:- give up hours and I mean hours of free time at times like this. It’s not uncommon at times to be early hours of the morning. After all they have day jobs every home game probably do not see half the game sometimes none of the game so people can enjoy the experience at Hornchurch. Most of them are there at 10am doing all sorts of things cleaning toilets, making players food , sweeping up rubbish the list goes on Its easy to stand back and criticise, but if they offered to help and see what they do I think these people would be less critical So from a Chin from afar who can’t be there I thank you all , and hope every fan enjoys the day, supports the team and the team goes up.11 points -

Shame to see that the refs are of a similar quality. Second half we came out of the traps fast. Femi did make a difference but the whole team looked more alive. Great individual goal from Liam hope we get to see the second goal by Charlee as it was a screamer into the top corner and the third was a really well constructed effort. Great start real confidence booster. Know it’s early days but hopefully it shows that we are not out of our depth in this league. It’s really difficult to give updates regarding players. If you do that then it makes other clubs aware of the situation with players at that present time. There’s absolutely zero benefit to doing that whatsoever! If we do that then sometimes it just allows other clubs to get their offers into players who have yet to commit. Sometimes clubs will just assume that they’ve stayed at the club as nothing else has been said. However, having said all of that, it’s looking positive re Lenchy 👍🏼10 points -
Has This Season Been A Success?

The hype 😂 Pretty much everyone predicted us to get relegated. We’ve just finished 10th in a league where there are 6 full time teams. We’ve recruited every play bar one from a lower level last summer, only exception with one being from the conference south. We’ve gone 23 games unbeaten at home. We’ve got to the 1st Round of the FA Cup. Our attendances have risen brilliantly. The fans have been absolutely superb and enjoyed watching a team that works their absolute socks off for the badge. If Luton, Burnley, Sheffield United were able stay in the premier league then it’s successful season for them. Have we had success.. some will say no because we haven’t lifted a trophy. A lot of people will think that winning something is success. Has it been successful? Most definitely. I looked up the meaning of success… accomplishing a desired aim or result. "the focus should be on a successful outcome” Our desired aim wasn’t to win the league… 👍🏼10 points -

Was just gutted that the big moments in the game didn’t fall our way, add injuries to that as well. In reply to some of the comments… I can’t pretend to be happy when I wasn’t. The interview was 10 minutes after the final whistle and at the moment in time I felt flat. We’ve had two results in the past 3 games where we’ve had 3 points snatched from us and sometimes that’s difficult to take. This morning however, it was a new day. I’ve woken up feeling optimistic and always will be while we are in the fight we are in. Some people might argue, or say that I have to remain positive at all times, especially in front of the camera where people can watch it back, but sometimes emotion is good fuel. After yesterdays game, I have never seen a changing room so deflated, but to me that’s a good thing because it shows how much losing a point hurts. We are lucky to have the group that we do and I wouldn’t change any of them which hopefully speaks volumes about the togetherness we have.10 points -

Not saying we will win those games or it’s going to be easy but we’re certainly in a good place going into them. 👍🏼10 points -

I think the other thing people want these days (of social media and the internet) is everything now. You want the news of the day, you don't wait until 6pm or 10pm on the TV, you log onto the internet and get it now, same with sport etc. It's live up to the minute coverage of everything. If you then bring that down to a local non-league football team, people still want everything now, as opposed to the days you are talking about above when people would have to wait for a club announcement or the Skough Express / Observer on a Wednesday / Friday. I agree with those that say about being patient and for those commenting about "do you just have blind faith in the board etc", yes I do. Why should I not? What have they done (factually not speculation) to break that trust / faith? Nothing for me as a supporter of the team and the club. We have a decent squad and a potentially IMO excellent young manager in place with loads of football contacts that if takeovers and things happen should be in a position to keep us in the league currently. If there isn't a takeover / money appear, then hopefully the squad we have, when fit, can achieve that same goal. What I can be certain of is those in charge of the club are both doing their best and doing it for the good of STFC and as long as they are in charge, lets let them crack on and I'm sure that once there is something to say, they will do.10 points -

To be honest I think Guy has just used the wrong words, as most players and management would class Havant as one of the bigger clubs in the league, mainly due to resources, however I can tell you Guy is a great lad, and only a change in his circumstances have resulted in him leaving. Clearly I am not going into the ins and outs, however we both totally understand the decision and it was made with a heavy heart, and I can assure you he has not meant to disrespect the club in any way. In terms of have we got something lined up, well I will be honest we have been hit for 6, Guy going, meant we had planned on bringing Christian back into the fold, he was one that I watched twice over Christmas and I saw enough to feel comfortable in him coming in and doing well with us, however obviously tragedy has hit, and that is no longer an option. We are also in a situation whereby I am currently caring for my father full time in Norfolk until he passes which is imminent, and Unders wife gave birth yesterday to their second child, however even with all this going on we have managed to speak with a centre half who we will hear from next week on if he would like to join. Outside of that we do not have anything else lined up, as this has all happened so quickly, and in all honesty losing Christian has left us very flat. Obviously it is our job to try and get what we can out of our lads that we do have, and work on other options, but don’t expect miracles immediately.10 points -

What an enjoyable day yesterday.( And a long one ).Left home at 06.30, got back home at midnight. Whether we had won, lost or drawn against Truro it still would have been a fantastic season. If you had said to me at the start of the season that we would have 1, got to the 2nd Round of the FA Cup again 2, been minutes away from the end of the last league game of the season just needing Hemel to score a goal to get us into the play offs and 3, have a possible Cup Final to play in ( ???????????????) I would not have believed you. It's been brilliant following The Rebels this season. And what a great gesture by Neil and Jon yesterday, buying all the Slough supporters a drink after the game. Thank you. Steve E, the whole management team and all the players who have worn the Slough Town shirt this season have done the club proud. It feels so good to be a Slough Town fan. Can't wait for next season !10 points -
Difficult as there are so many worthy recipients but i think for me there are supporters who not only support but go way above and beyond, especially when we most needed them at the end of the 00s...... Names that spring to mind in this category are of course the likes of Chris Sliski, Kay Lathey, Mike Lightfoot, Adrian Gomm etc. Definitely have to say that Warren Carter is a great shout too. I remember a game away at Farnborough.....must have been 2007 and we were 4 or 5 down at half time with barely a team scraped together. He gathered those who were there at half time and brainstormed how supporters could help the club, the passion he spoke with that day really struck me as to how much he cared.9 points

As HR has stated on another post i am sponsoring the game on boxing day in memory of my dad who sadly passed away 2 1/2 years ago and lived for the rebels. yesterday would have been his 97th birthday so for me it was quite an emotional day but for us to win on his birthday made the day just a little special. So all dad would have wanted on his birthday was 3 points and we got it. Huge thanks to Scott and the team for making his wish come true. COYR9 points

What a performance from the rebels from start to finish. I sponsored yesterday's game in memory of my dad and you did him proud. Sponsored 2 games since my dad's passing ( a Slough Town. Legend ) a 4-1 victory against Hampton last season and yesterday's 6-1. If I had the money I'd sponsor every game. 15 of my family came along to the game and they all thoroughly enjoyed the day, even a fan of the team from Junction 4 of the M40 said it was an incredible day. Huge thanks to the club for their hospitality and if anyone is thinking of sponsoring a game please do it you won't regret it's a great day. On to Taunton COYR9 points -
Well after a rather sleepless night I think it's fair to say that the last 2 games have not gone the way we wanted them to in terms of results but also in the performances. However we have 7 games left to achieve what I think will be one of the best achievements the club have ever done. I for one will be going to every game knowing 100% that we are good enough to get this done. We will sing/shout/cheer the rebels onto victory. On a personal note my dad who sadly is no longer with us but I know is always by my side will be cheering the lads on as will all those other rebels who are watching from above. I don't know what goes on behind the scenes but all i can say is what Scott and everyone connected with the club have done an outstanding job to get us where we are. We can do this, believe. Once a rebel always a rebel.9 points

A massive win for the Rebels, a fortunate penalty which we actually scored and a really fun game of football that was never really in doubt! Fair play to Dulwich who rarely travel in numbers from what I've seen but probably brought the most away fans to Arbour Park this year and made some decent noise for a change. As well as we played today, they wouldn't stay down and gave us a very nervous last ten minutes. What a fantastic job Scotty Davies and Lee Togwell have done to steady the ship over a difficult and uncertain period for the club over the last few months. Both Slough Town legends who will hopefully be involved in the club for year to come. I think Scott can go on to be a good manager at this level and maybe even beyond if he wants to, I really like what I've seen so far and that we are trying to play a bit more and have a more structured, consistent formation and shape. Scott is such a nice bloke that everyone loves but has shown a bit of ruthlessness this week in pursuit of team goals which I also like. I'd like to see what he can do with a full preseason and maybe a few extra quid in the budget but the whole squad we have now have shown a bit of character recently and given us a bit of hope in the last few games. Really impressive performances from Lench and Goddard this afternoon. Both looked confident and played some of their best football for the club this season. Matty Lench has found another level since Oxford away and has been brilliant in the middle of the park, scoring a great goal today, possibly an assist too but Dulwich couldn't get near him. Such a great player to watch when he's at it like today and deservedly got the man of the match award and again looked very at home in centre mid. Some of the football we have played last 3-4 games have been really enjoyable to watch, we maybe just now need to tighten up a bit at the other end. Amartey and Obi are a really exciting, fresh pairing up front with some pace and aggression who have changed the dynamic of team and could be a handful for any defence in this league. Would love us to bring Amartey back permanently next season. He has always looked a threat for us, that's 2 in 2 now for him I think. I feel he could be a 20+ goalscorer for us if given a chance. Brilliant that Obi is off the mark too as I think he's looked good since signing but strikers need goals and hopefully that's the first of many for us now. Very pleased with those two signings. Today felt like a new start for the club. New owners, new managers, the biggest home crowd of the season, good away support and a rare home win and a very entertaining game which we just about won in the end to get a massive 3 points. I felt we were dead certs for relegation a month ago but it looks like we have managed to put together a decent squad at short notice who are up for the fight and I'm getting more confident we can stay up if we can keep up the level of intensity and performance from the last couple of games. That and concede less goals. Today felt likes a pre-pandemic game at Arbour Park with a good crowd and players and fans all 100% and up for it. Let's hope we can keep that momentum going for the rest of the season and into the next one wherever that may be. I brought a couple of Slough ex-pats to the game today and they loved it. More of that in 2023. Finally, really depressing to read about possible racist abuse towards a Dulwich player from a Slough fan this morning. As fans I hoped we were better than that.9 points -

For a goalkeeper who is 23 and playing at step 2, I wouldn’t be surprised if Slough wasn’t his agents first choice of clubs come the summer anyway. As much as people think that the club have to protect and look after players for the future etc, you have to remember that players will also be looking to move higher each season. Ive seen it first hand how it works, if I’d had a good season as a young player (had one or two 😅), my agent was working tirelessly back in the day for me to move onto bigger and better things. I was always thinking what’s next, as was he! Im not saying Rhys is thinking like that, but the objective is to keep the club in this league and then I’ll worry about the summer when it comes. I’ve been offered 8-10 goalkeepers in the past 6 weeks from pro clubs and said no each time because of age, stature, league. We just felt this one was too good an opportunity to turn down.9 points -

The lads are actually feeling pretty optimistic for tomorrow and so they should be. Ebbsfleet would compete extremely well in the league above so we have to be realistic. With players missing at the weekend, I worked out that 40% of our budget wasn’t even at the game. To compete like we did with the 60% of the players that fill the rest of the budget that we did have, I take immense pride from that. The equivalent is that two of their players would equate financially to the whole of our squad that played! Yes it was backs against the wall for large parts of the game but that was our game plan to hit them on the break, we were always going to have less than 20% of the ball. If we had been a bit neater at times when we got ourselves into good positions from counter attacking, we might have a nicked a goal or two ourselves. Tomorrow is a different ball game and one that we are more than capable of winning if we play to our maximum. Let’s try and keep the positivity if we can, I’m sure that first league win in a long time isn’t far away! Also hoping to bring a couple in today to help take the pressure off the younger players in the squad. As ever, appreciate all the support from those of you who turn out each week! So thanks to those that do.9 points -
My reading of Wycombe Rebel's post was not that he didn't want to discuss the club on here, but that he only followed the club due to the managers, and as they have left so will he... Will always get people that are here just for individuals, players or staff. That's inevitable and understandable. Family and friends should be welcomed and encouraged. When their "reason for being here" moves on so will they. To any in that boat now, thanks for being part of the ride, and all the best. To those who the club mean more than that, it's hard at the moment, but change always happens at some stage. When I moved away 25 years ago, things looked very bleak. Sutton away with a new squad of 16 including 2 keepers, was interesting. The dark days eventually gave way to an exciting journey. That journey will continue, none of us know exactly the route it will take, but we need to remain hopeful. I may not make it back much these days but trust me I'm shocked/hurting too. Slough Town till I die...9 points

A couple of non league snippets
Rebel Wokingham and 8 others reacted to Radders for a topic
I think people get very carried away about this whole ‘we are desperate for the national league’ rhetoric!!! Questions were asked around what the long term goals of the club were and what we wanted to achieve in the future. Tell me any club in the world that, when asked that question, would reply ‘oh well we are aiming for relegation this year and then next season we’d like to finish around 12th in the southern league’. The just giving page was to allow us to play our play off match that we had already earned with our performances before the pandemic. It wasn’t set up to ‘get us to the national league’ specifically. At the time they were asked these questions we were sat in the play off zone. Our current players would have been delighted if they’d turned round and said ‘well we’re in the play off zone now but we intend to ensure we drop out of that before the end of the season, i’m not sure I can enjoy next season without a trip to concord’. When the managers are negotiating for new players, I would presume that telling them ‘come and play for Slough, we are aiming to finish between 13th and 16th for the next 5 years, you’ve a great chance of developing here’. Or to the fans ‘get a season ticket, we intend to lose 60% of games but we serve a nice pint’. I’m not desperate for the national league. I’ve spent 30 years watching Slough and all bar about 6 of them have been our current level or lower. But I’m my opinion you should always do your best and strive to be better. If we did get promoted then surely it’s just about managing that properly. Look at Barnsley, they got promoted to the premier league in 1997 and spent one year in the top flight. I’m sure that was amazing for the fans and players and since then, they have moved between the championship and league 1 a couple of times, primarily being in the championship. They had a great year but didn’t go out and spend loads of money but instead coped with what they had and do haven’t killed themselves for future years. Very similar as well to what we did when we first got into national south. The first year we barely bought in any new players and gave the existing squad a chance to give it a go. We survived and then year on year built, so that on year 3 we reached the play offs and year 4, won them. Build within your means whilst still looking forwards. I see nothing ‘desperate’ in Sloughs future planning at the moment. In fact I see the opposite, a team of managers and players who strive to be better and do their best but without enormous pressure to win every game. I would much rather my team was like that than finishing mid table for 10 years in a row.9 points -

To save too much speculation on the keeper front I’m happy to give a “forum exclusive” and tell you that we will be announcing our new keeper on Tuesday, after the social media boycott ends, and it’s someone very much proven at this level and one that we are delighted to get on board. So my observations ? Why is it two points dropped, could it not be one point gained also? As they should have equalised immediately after scoring first, and they were decent once they scored... the goal changes complexion of the game, and they could have won it at the end, as they had the impetus (which happens all the time in football when you relinquish a lead) however to call them poor when they have had some brilliant results this season (and are a team also just 4 points off the play offs) is I think a little disrespectful to them and the teams we are playing against week in week out. Were we disappointed with the defending on the goals, then yes, have we been excellent defensively all season, yes, do mistakes happen yes.... do goals change goals? Again the answer is yes. You say we were not clinical, who wasn’t? Who missed absolute sitters? their keeper made two good saves low from Floody second half, Dunny had one go just wide of the post with two players maybe on the line,so not an easy chance, Soaresy had one first half that keeper has saved well also, we had a few scrambles also, we created some chances through excellent passing yesterday, scored two goals (against a team who went and beat Billericay away last week) and outside of Bath and the 3-3 draw with Truro and Weston nobody in our league scored more than 2. You mention we missed Dobbo big time, we are unbeaten without Dobbo having won 2 and drawn 2, many people have said we probably played as well as we have all season first half, and for me some of the football played was outstanding, we would have 100 per cent been playing a different way with Dobbo in the side, and it would have been more direct as he enabled us to do that, and I am not saying that is a good thing or a bad thing, but him leaving has forced us to work on a different side of our game, and I will be brutally honest I like it, as it forces us to think more and pass the ball better, instead of get the ball out wide to Dobbo as quick as we can and him cross the ball into the box. In the end the business and timing was right for the club and Dobbo, so we move on. We looked great going forward, and as you said Warren was excellent, and is relishing playing a different role, as is Soaresy who has been a threat recently. I thought Floody was top drawer yesterday. We were missing Ben Harris who we really like working with, and when missing is a miss to the team. You mention about trying to shut up shop, and that was exactly what we did by bringing Soaresy off, and bringing Sean on to play a narrow 4 in midfield as at that period Chippenham were on top, no different than bringing Nis on last week against Chelmsford for last 5 minutes just as a further defensive option to see the game out, Sod’s law 30 seconds after making the change they score, thathappens in football, we take that on the chin, same way we won’t go around gloating that a change has won us the game, we won’t beat ourselves up for making a sub that has not gone the way we want, we then make further changes to try and win the game, but without losing it, which we didn’t. We hear about this need for signing this top striker, well no disrespect these top strikers usually come at a cost,. We onlyhad 605 people at our game yesterday, and whilst our average is 8th in the league currently, if we continue only getting good gates for the so called bigger games, we will end up 10th or so in the average attendance table, so think whilst we all have lofty ambitions, we also have to have an element of realism. Yes we have had two good cup runs, but football clubs take money to finance, and these funds can help for a good period of time, and whilst we always have the backing of Steve, none of us are reckless in the pursuit of our ambitions and will not put the club at any risk, obviously if the right option are up we would take it, and we are constantly looking at ways we can try to improve, however at present nothing to report on that front. If we asked fans at the beginning of the season before a ball was kicked, we will be 26 games into the season, 3 points off the play offs, running with a 16/17 man squad (on a run of form which predominately has not included Dobbo or Matty where we have won 4 drawn 2 and lost 2 of our last 8 league games) and also got to the Fa Cup second round again, whilst receiving many plaudits for the way our fans conduct themselves away, from home and the way we treat other clubs at home, I think most people will have said... yes please. As people know by now I am always a half full person (that has not changed ever since I was playing) so i do get frustrated with negative comments, however small (especially when I do think there are so many things to be positive about) and this isn’t just aimed at Marcus post, as I know how he always gets behind us etc, and this is why I will come on here and give my view, I totally respect people have the right to their views, and know this is part of modern day football, however by having these platforms it allows me a right of reply, and hopefully it I still valued on here. I think we are very transparent, and have been since we walked i the door, this will never change, and most people will say they can come and ask us pretty much anything and we will respond. Just remember none of us are perfect, but we work as hard as we possibly can to achieve success, and on the whole we go about things in the right way, and my personal philosophy in life is if you work hard and treat people the way you would like to be treated then you earn your own luck, we will continue to do this, and it is my personal opinion that with the squad we have we will go close, we might not make it, but we will have a bloody good go, so enjoy the ride, there are always ups and downs.9 points
