The Dave Gardner Memorial Tournament is an annual pre-season event played for since 2005 by Falmouth Town, Helston Athletic, Penzance and Porthleven, the four local clubs he played for before his untimely death from cancer in 2003 aged 36. The tournament raises funds for Cornwall Hospice Care and Cancer Funding for Cornwall, two charities close to the Gardner family.
