This week - the Cornwall Junior Cup Area Finals!
Let's bring everyone up to date with the big results from last week first.
I got one right in my predictions for the Senior Cup Final! Bodmin went through as I thought they would, beating Penzance 3-2 after extra time. I don't like to say it, but some very strange refereeing in this one!
St Austell won the other semi - 3-1 against a lack-lustre Saltash Utd. The Ashes obviously didn't realise that opponents St Austell had a stand-in 'keeper, Jay Hill, an Olympic standard Hammer thrower apparently. Apart from the goal, and that a penalty, he didn't really have much to do!
The all Cornish South West Peninsula League Premier Division game between two sides that most non-Cornish non-league supporters will know, St Blazey v Falmouth Town, finished all square, in front of a disappointing attendance around the 80 mark!
Yesterday saw a crucial game in the league finish 2-2 as well - Buckland (last season's champions) v Bodmin (champions for the two seasons prior to that!). Bodmin have 6 games in hand, but are 20 points behind.
This midweek - the two Junior Cup Area Finals (and don't be caught out - Junior doesn't mean Under-18 or Youth or the likes) take place. In the West, on Tuesday, Illogan RBL meet St Agnes (two former clubs of mine actually); while Wednesday sees Torpoint Athletic against St Dennis.
My prediction (again, just for fun) : Illogan RBL and Torpoint to meet on Easter Monday in the final!
