Well after last week's Vase excitement, this weekend suggests a quieter time! Torpoint have been drawn away in the quarter-finals to Poole Town. There's mixed opinions on this draw in as much as some are saying the travelling will be easier, but then others would have preferred the home advantage. Poole are going well in their league!
I took in the South West Peninsula League match on Tuesday between Penzance and Saltash. The first half saw plenty of effort but not too much goal action. Then midway through the second period, Penzance suddenly make the breakthrough with three goals in about ten minutes! It finished a bad night for the Ashes as they went down 4-0. Have to say former England under-21 international Wayne Quinn is a class act playing at the back for the Magpies.
Today - well already the heavy rain yesterday has had it's say - a few games off with waterlogged pitches. One of those being the big clash of the day in the Cornwall Senior Cup between Saltash and Falmouth. So, that means I'm off to another quarter final between St Austell v Liskeard. I've heard lots of good things about the ground improvements at Poltair - this will be my first chance to see them.
