The latest "Massey's Mutterings" on the website shows Steve in another photo which although he can look back now and laugh, at the time his manager, Brian Horton at Hull City, didn't think the same.
Steve tells the story on his weekly page.

This week's "Massey's Mutterings" not only sees the author sporting a remarkable tight fit pair of shorts when being introduced to the media when the signed for Hull City back in 1983, but also Steve gets an early shot in against rival Charity match manager! Not very charitable!!!

We all know how well Sir Alex has done at United, but Cornwall has its own version in Perranwell's manager Dave Fisher.
Take a look at the commendation from ex-pro Steve Massey in his latest "Massey's Mutterings"

Sad news about an ex-highly rated past referee passing away features amongst the CORNISH SOCCER website's Massey's Mutterings. Steve also has a rant about clubs' budgets!!!! Oh dear!

Congratulations to Camelford at winning the SWPL Division One West today. They only lost twice all season, but it's not been until today, the penultimate game of the season that they were able to clinch promotion.
What a turnaround!
From trailing 1-0 at half-time, City came out after the break and looked a different side. They made the one change at the break - Danny Clay coming on in the middle of the park with Marcus Martin going out left replacing Dan Smith.
The game opened with both sides exchanging chances in the opening quarter - Martin having two attempts at goal, while for the visitors Nick Stanley turned and shot, while their most dangerous player for me, James Rowe, had a shot go tantalisi
Yes, it might be a few years since Steve Massey was turning out as a professional for the likes of Stockport, Hull, Bournemouth etc, but he's still daft on the game and he writes a page each week for my site.

Just what do I mean by my heading?
Well the clock changes this weekend, meaning the evenings games will start throughout the Cornish football world, and with this will come a handful of scorelines each week that will somehow defy the logic of the season league form so far!
In certain places, players will be turning out for other clubs than their usual, boosting the normal line-up and with it making a difference to the result on some occasions.
Is this fair? Probably not, but it's al
Let's bring everyone up to date with the big results from last week first.
I got one right in my predictions for the Senior Cup Final! Bodmin went through as I thought they would, beating Penzance 3-2 after extra time. I don't like to say it, but some very strange refereeing in this one!
St Austell won the other semi - 3-1 against a lack-lustre Saltash Utd. The Ashes obviously didn't realise that opponents St Austell had a stand-in 'keeper, Jay Hill, an Olympic standard Hammer thrower ap
Firstly, the Vase road to Wembley is over for Torpoint! A gallant performance by all accounts, especially from 'keeper Martin Piper, but a deserved win for opponents Poole.
Meanwhile, Truro City picked up a more than useful win over fellow promotion contenders Cambridge City. Two goals from ex-pro Barry Hayles early in the second-half was enough to take them back onto the top of the Southern League table. The second one was in particular a well-taken goal with Hayles showing a lot of class a
Well with three games in a week, has it been the best preparation for Torpoint Athletic, Cornwall's last remaining club in the FA Vase?
I went up to watch them last Saturday against Ivybridge, and ok, they were without their suspended league top scorer Adam Carter, but they lost 4-1 to a team that was on a six game run without a win!
They responded with a win on Monday at Liskeard, and then a resounding 5-1 at St Blazey two days later. Although, it sounds as if by this game, it was a wea
No, it's not all good news to come out of Cornwall with the news that two of our footballing heroes have passed away over the past week or so.
Firstly Tony Kellow, not only the non-league followers but also professional football club fans should have heard of the name. A prolific scorer with Exeter City, after joining them from South Western League side Falmouth Town. He came to Bickland Park from Penzance, but it was with Falmouth where he formed a formidable striking partnership with Joey
Well after last week's Vase excitement, this weekend suggests a quieter time! Torpoint have been drawn away in the quarter-finals to Poole Town. There's mixed opinions on this draw in as much as some are saying the travelling will be easier, but then others would have preferred the home advantage. Poole are going well in their league!
I took in the South West Peninsula League match on Tuesday between Penzance and Saltash. The first half saw plenty of effort but not too much goal action. Then
Well done Torpoint Athletic for an historic FA Vase win yesterday.
A crowd of 500 approx watched them make it into the Quarter final draw due tomorrow for the first time ever. They had already become the club to make it the furthest representing the South West Peninsula League and now no doubt everyone will be awaiting the draw with baited breath.
Mind you its back to league action with a bump - a difficult home fixture against Bodmin Town on Tuesday evening. Let's hope even a quarter of
Welcome to my first post and there's no better time for me to start than when FA Vase football comes to the county again.
Tomorrow Torpoint Athletic await the arrival of Billingham Synthonia, who surely must be making the longest trip of the round.
The Vase has always meant something very special to the Cornish football followers, even before Truro City won it at the new Wembley in 2007, we were getting more than excited with the exploits of mainly Falmouth Town, St Blazey and Porthleven.
